They'll still have work to do to find replacements for the rest of the roster, but it's nice when you can add an MVP caliber player "for free".

All of Hope's players are free.  Does that mean that Calvin is paying for theirs   ;)  :D  ;D

Good of you to notice at your advanced age. ;)

I realize this isn't a true apples to apples comparison.........but

Will Bowser  Sr. yr. (2011)  18.7 pts, 5.1 rbs,   , led team in FG made and attempts led team in 3 points made and attempts, led team in FT made and attempt

Peter Bunn Jr. yr. (2010) 16.1 pts, 4.5 rbs,  led team in FG made and attempts, led team in 3 points made and 2nd in attempts, led team FT made and attempts

Both played slightly over 31 minutes per game, the 2011 Dutchmen scored 6 points more per game than the 2010 team.

How do Bowser's stats compare if stacked against his own numbers from his junior year?

As a Jr., Will averaged 12.2 points per game in 29.2 minutes of play.

SR: 0.588 points per minute
JR: 0.416 points per minute

Bunn as JR: 0.504 points per minute. That's pretty much the exact average of Will's Junior and Senior scoring rates.

For some Calvin references:

Snikkers was at 0.602 ppm
Schnyders was at 0.551
Rodts was at 0.418 ppm
Schuster was at 0.371
Brink was at 0.355 ppm
Salo was at 0.225 ppm
Kruis was at 0.191 ppm

(Points per minute is probably not a good way to compare players across teams, you would need to adjust for tempo and whatnot, but it gives a good indication of how much players will have to step up to regain what is lost through graduation.)

They are difficult players to compare....for one they play different positions and have different yet similar skill sets.  Two, as Jr's they both played with each other, there's no doubt in my mind that Will's excellent Senior season was partly due to him having to be 'the man' without Peter on the floor.  It remains to be seen whether Peter will be relied upon as much as Will was this past season.

From a statistical point of view, Hope is hypothetically replacing nearly identical stats,  its almost as if Will's production isn't graduating (assuming Peter comes back as something close to or better than the player he was in 2010)

Thanks!  I asked primarily to see if there was, indeed, a "senior year factor."  It seems that seniors play with a different sense of urgency, usually accompanied by higher performance.  It will be interesting to see what that means for Bunn (as well as the other seniors at Hope and around the league).

It means Haverdink is on an absolute MISSION this year.

You might be surprised...but if not, I'm sure realist or whomever the Haverdink hater is will let us all know.   ;) :D

It isn't good to compare Calvin players because any time they get into a groove they get taken out of the game because of the substitution scheduling prior to game time

I will always applaud this strategy.
