Joe Prepolec 23, Eric Fishman 20, Mark Ghafari 16, Joe Wilson 12......the Hornets are getting pretty reliable and consistent scoring from these  4

That's one thing I've noticed when running player efficiency calculations. Kzoo's top 5 or 6 guys rate as well as the top teams in the league, but they have zero depth after that.

I see a video link to tonight's IU-Northwest/Alma game.......the crowd without video availablity is getting lonely   :'(

Trine 86 Heidelberg 76

Trine had a near double-digit lead most of the second half.  Quite a scoreline for the Thunder with Ian Jackson and Scott Rogers taking 43 of their 63 shots, they blazed the nets for 55%....me thinks lots of layups.  Trine was also out-rebound by 10, did not make a 3 point shot in the game and were outscored at the FT line by 11

Ian Jackson 32, Scott Rogers 28

c'mon Alma

Alma's had video for all their games so far. If I heard right, this will be the first time with broadcasters on the videocast as well

Alma  103  IU-Northwest 95

Well I'm happy to say it probably wasn't ugly.  I didn't watch more than about 5 min of each half and it looked like defense optional.....very optional.

Alma bombed in 14 3's to INW's 3, there in lies the difference.  Overall a pretty good day for the Scots who beat a team they should beat.

Chris Williamson 20, Corey Schneider 16, Greg Silverthorn 16, Tommy Erickson 14, Brandon Krause 10

INW had 4 guys reach 20+ points....and then nothing.

Quick research reveals this is Alma's first trip over the century mark in regulation since a 2006 game with Marygrove.   Free tacos tonight in Alma!!!.

With this win the MIAA moves to 36-31 on the season.

For the 24 people at the game? haha...

It was very defense optional. IUNW was athletic athletic and more athletic. Not very disciplined though. Latimore (there best player IMO) picked up a couple of stupid fouls when he knew he was in foul trouble, they never got back on D. It was 5 on 2 for Alma most of the game.

the Scots just couldn't match up with the redhawks speed and athleticism. IUNW hit shots tonight that were contested and could easily have won that game if they played defense at all.

Overall, a good win for the Scots who are just looking for W's.

The return of Terry Smith should be a fun one on Saturday when the Scots take on Finlandia...

Actually, Alma hosts Finlandia on Wednesday night ... The Lions make the trip down to play the Comets on Tuesday night and on the way home, they will stop in Alma for a game!

Anybody else catch the clip from the Heidelberg-Trine game on SportsCenter's Top Ten this morning? Impressive...

Finlandia has one of the strangest schedules I've ever seen. The Lions only play 4 of their 23 games at home--evenly spread out with one each for the months of November, December, January and February. By the end of this calendar year they will already have played 16 games and after back-to-back games on January 3 and 4, Finlandia will only have 5 scheduled contests remaining. By contrast, the MIAA season begins on January 4 meaning all conference teams will have 13 games remaining. If Finlandia would get a post season berth from the NCAA (they won't), the Lions would have a layoff of over two weeks between their last regular season game on February 14 and their post-season opener.

Such is the life of an independent - gotta get games early before everyone else is playing conference games.

Calvin will resume play on December 29 after two weeks of gathering rust.  The Knights will meet the Pirates of Whitworth, ranked #8 in DIII.  Interested fans can wacth Whitworth at 7:00pm (EST) tonight on live video feed at http://www.whitworth.edu/Athletics/Teams/Basketball/livefeed.htm.  Should be a blowout for the Pirates, but at least it will be a chance to scout them in action prior to the game on the 29th.

I have not spent a winter in Hancock, but I've seen the heights of the snow poles they use to line the roads.  This schedule is probably for the best.
