It seems fair to say that things are tight-lipped at Calvin at the moment.

Well have to say that it's a bad omen when two of your top recruits choose two of your top recruiting rivals after being locks for coming to your school, especially after everyone talks about how your recruiting is your biggest saving grace.

If maas was one of KVS' top recruits, that may be indicative of a larger issue...not to open Pandora's box, but there's a chance he may only ever play JV @ hope, if reports are true of who they have & who else they are potentially still after.

It appears that Matt Van Dyk from Imlay City is going to Hope.

Maybe KVS decided to take a year off from recruiting because he's getting almost everyone back next year?

Or, do you want to play someplace exciting?  Or what appears to me a stagnant location?

Or for a coach that is personable and talks to his players or one who doesn't even talk to his players off the court?

The estimable Grand Haven Tribune (not to be compared with, or confused for, the inestimable Mrs. OK) reports today that Grand Haven High School's best hoopster, Alex Eidson, is heading to Hope.  Another nice get for the Flying Dutchmen, Alex averaged over 17 points and 5 rebounds in his senior season.  He's a fourth-team BankHoops Class A honoree, and sixth-team Class A All-Stater in the Detroit Free Press' listing.

Has some Stephen Cramer in his game.

Now that is a commendation that sparks excitement (or concern, depending on the reader).

And thank you, Steve, for these recruiting insights, which I'm sure all the board members here appreciate.

Glad to do it.

Judging from first two AAU weekends, the West Michigan small school recruit du jour will be 6-7 Josh Groenhof from Zeeland East, big strong post with good feet, and jumps quickly if not highly.

SBell, thanks for the scoop.  Another Zeeland East big man heading to Hope?  Looking ahead, there's a handful or more of other local West Michigan kids (I think mostly juniors) that have reportedly been guests at MIAA and other small college games.  I know it's early, but any insights/thoughts/info on any of the following?:

Chase Fairchild & Chad Carlson (Rockford)
Jon Marosi (Catholic Central)
Austin Johnson (Spring Lake)
Brad Visser (Grandville Calvin Christian)
Ryan Wassink (Hudsonville Unity Christian)
Marcus Hall (East Grand Rapids)
Jared Bradford (Sparta)

And I haven't heard anything on the Heemskerk kid (senior) from Grand Rapids Christian.  Any idea of where he might end up?
THANKS!

per Facebook, two minutes ago, Brandon Bowser, Will's lil' bro, is coming to Hope.  Eidson has a sloid chance to play varsity at Hope (based on some who have made the roster in recent years).  Strong, athletic, although a bit "mechanical".  Think Billy Seiler possibly???
