Tough game to watch in Adrian tonight.  Adrian was the better team, I think there was very little doubt about that.  They pretty much controlled the game throughout, even though the score remained close.  Unfortunately, an embarrassing team performance at the free throw line cost them the game.  Jeff Nokovich looked very good, although this was the first I've gotten to see him play this year.  It looks like he's just the kind of spark the Bulldogs needed, even though they came up short tonight.  Billy Collins had a nice game, too, although he had his cold spells.  Bottom line, you can't go 10-27 from the line and expect to beat a good team.  Consider it a lesson learned the hard way.

Thanks, CM. But, really, any mention of the Michigan Hall of Fame of Super Sweetness is an automatic slam-dunk in terms of getting a laugh. He-Whose-Name-Is-Red-Dots (the portly lad who haunted the endline seats at Kresge) was comedy gold back in the days when he haunted this board.

Hey, kdoggy, it's all good. Glad to see you can take a joke, especially on a night when you had to endure the pain of watching your school lose to their crosstown rival. A lesser man would've vented some spleen. If it makes you feel any better, North Central just got a lot more vulnerable within the past few days, as their star center Anthony Simmons (All-CCIW second team last season, and 19.3 ppg this season after three games) has apparently left school.

According to GVW on the radio this morning, Marcus VanderHeide has a foot injury that will sideline him for a couple of weeks.  Hopefully that only means missing the two games this weekend, since the next game after that is on the 28th.  Marcus has been a big contributor this year, but you don't loose much when you start Jeff Carlson in his place.

Adrian outplayed a very good Siena Heights team.  Challenge me on this one.
kdoggy,  we're supposed to take your word on SH after you said this about Oberlin?
QuoteAdrian beat an athletic Oberlin team tonight, 61-51.  Good win and it makes the trip back from Cleveland easier.
Sorry, I had to do it to you kdog ;), even though you were being such a good sport about the Oberlin thing.   :)

hopefan - funny (not really) you say "bug" - because I hear he has an infection in his foot.  I also heard he will only miss "a couple of games".

I was really starting to bemoan the 18 day break from games - but I'm thinking about changing my tune...

MIdoubleA

It would not truly be a season of Hope College basketball without a major contributor suffering an injury in the early stages of the season.

Just as an addition to all of you, after coming from other discussion boards, this is by far the best. The fact that people can dish jokes and *gasp* take them well says a lot. Plus, the bball talk here is pretty good too  ;)

oldknight

True enough MIdoubleA, this has been a pretty good board this year.  But let's be fair--we have gotten an assist or two from an outsider (Greg Sager) who always offers sage advice, sprinkling in a touch of humor when appropriate.  So let's give credit where credit is due to Sager who, if he posts here much more often, will have to be given honorary MIAA Board status.

That's exceedingly high praise, oldknight.
Honorary MIAA Board status is akin to an honorary doctorate in some lesser conferences. :-X

I agree with the rest of you that things are pretty good here.  We might, however, be slightly more (oh what's the word?) ...vicious once we start actually playing one another.  ;)

At least I know I can count on some spirited discussion.

"He-Whose-Name-Is-Red-Dots "

Well that is just funny stuff, in and of itself it should earn an honory Miaa chat room something or other.

...K-Doggy (aka KDawg) nice to see you have a sense of humor, ya know I was just messin' around.  I'll concur that while I haven't seen Siena Heights they certainly appear to be at least an equal of Cornerstone or Aquinas.  In other words a contender for the WHAC, which in most years equats to at worst 3rd in the MIAA.

While just 7-4 they did beat a pretty good Huntington, highly praised in other d3hoops chat rooms.

When did  Davenport join the WHAC?

....if anyone cares the World Cup draw is on live on ESPN2, they're actually discussing the USA's legitimate chances at winning the Cup......<snicker>

oh yeah FDF......it also helps when we put faces with names or at least handles.

Rats.  I just heard through the grapevine that the b-ball games at Devos were cancelled due to inclimate weather.  Guess I'll be watching Hoosiers tonight.  What will I do tomorrow...

sac

:-\......as he stares out the window wondering when the definition of inclement weather changed to cold and cloudy.  ?
