Hope College has something called "Hope Madness" tonight involving both the women and men.  It's either at 6:30 or 7:30 depending on who you ask or who's putting it in print or sending it out over the internet.  (time confirmation would be appreciated)

The event from 6:30-7:30 is a "students only" thing, with the Dew Crew meeting, etc.  The event for the public is 7:30-8:30.  Might we see you, SAC?

Thanks, I was considering it but I think I'll sit this one out.  :)

It is interesting that Snikkers is hardly mentioned since his outside shooting was a bit off.  He merely scored 20 points with drives, fast breaks, and excellent free throw shooting.  That fact that only one person even mentioned him along with several others in the strong closing of the game show just how much is expected of him and how important he is to the team's success.

I hadn't thought about it that way but on reflection, I think you're right. Tom had an "unremarkably" good game that passed mostly unnoticed. 20 points in 21 minutes and he really controlled the action during the critical last 3-4 minutes when Calvin spread the floor. Tom also showed good composure after being whistled for two early fouls, plus a third (soft) one early in the second half. Tom's physical tools are undeniably good but for the Knights to reach their potential they need their best player to continue to show good leadership and that means personal accountability.

Good choice.  As non-Dew Crew, we arrived at 7:30.  At about 7:45 the JV teams were "introduced"...en masse, not individually.  After that, the men and women's varsity were introduced individually, in the dark, with those blasted spotlights wizzing this way and that.  We never did get a good look at the players in "daylight".  The two coaches then spoke, the only thing I felt was of value the whole night.  Then there were two "half-time entertainment" bits, musical chairs and spectator shooting contests.  And that was it.  Rejoice in the fact that you didn't waste any gasoline!!

If you drove any distance you wasted gasoline. I drove from 10th and Columbia and regret the 17.2 cents it cost me. It would have been worthwhile if they had made book on the musical chairs or the shooting contest. For the record, I did not have my money on David Krombeen hitting from halfcourt on his first attempt, but I did wager on the Dew Crewer with the rolled-up jeans.

Said Dew Crewer is a soccer player, and those of us hoping to see him play this weekend were also hoping that he didn't injure himself fighting for a chair!   ;)

Sounds like they may have taken the "ness" out of the "Madness" there in De Colonie last night. :'(
But it could have been worse -- they might have extracted dollars from Dutch pockets with an admission fee.  ;)

Stephen Bell's blog on mlive will be honoring a small college player of the week throughout this season.  This week he chose Joe Prepolec of Kalamazoo College.

http://blog.mlive.com/highschoolbasketball/2011/11/bank_hoops_small_college_playe.html

Joe was the game high scorer in Kzoo's exhibition loss to Western Michigan last week with 24.

Also Stephen has come up with an all Michigan small college alumni team of current college players, a hand-full of MIAA players make his cut.

Had they done that, it would have made the Happy Valley events last night look like a Sunday School picnic.

Tonight we'll get to see how Calvin would do against Michigan when Ferris St takes on Michigan as we all know this accurately will tell the score of the imaginary match-up  ;)

In late December, we'll also have a Hope v. Duke score (courtesy of WMU).

For that, I'll want KnightSlappy to make an  adjustment for the home court advantage that WMU will have against Hope, and Duke against WMU.  :)

The Wolverines beat Ferris 59-33 last night. The win doesn't seem particularly impressive when you consider that Michigan's lead was only 38-32 with less than nine minutes remaining before finishing the game on a 21-1 run. I have to believe Beilein is disappointed with the fact that his team finished with the same number of rebounds (39) as did Ferris. When Calvin played Ferris on Tuesday, the Knights also finished in a tie for rebounds (36) with the Bulldogs.

Wow, that means Calvin was leading Michigan until late into the second half.
