As we have wrapped up another season, and I begin building our recruit list for the next one, I took a look back at how our known recruit & transfer list of athletes performed for their teams this year.  The table below shows what percent of each of the 4 categories came from players on our list:

Team   Incoming   Recruits    Minutes    Points    Rebounds    Assists
Adrian   FR  10.1070.13  0.067 0.104
---   ---  ---------  --- ---
Albion   FR  70.0780.05  0.072 0.065
---   ---  ---------  --- ---
Alma   FR  70.1150.159  0.072 0.14
---   ---  ---------  --- ---
Calvin   FR  20.020.012  0.018 0.023
Transfer  10.0960.079  0.061 0.074
All  30.1170.091  0.079 0.097
---   ---  ---------  --- ---
Hope   FR  50.2470.271  0.17 0.222
---   ---  ---------  --- ---
Kalamazoo   FR  30.1180.085  0.127 0.073

Trine   FR  10.040.024  0.062 0.03
Transfer  80.5580.569  0.426 0.573
All  90.5970.593  0.488 0.603

In addition to that, I did the same table for those players leaving after this season (graduates or transfers out):

Team   Leaving   Minutes    Points    Rebounds    Assists
Adrian   0.1420.1930.122   0.086

Interesting tidbit - last year at this point in time we knew of a total of 14 recruits - 5 of them to Olivet.  Total list last year was 58

This year we are already at 28!

And the MIAA is locking up a majority of interior players so far on these rosters...of the 30 listed commits, 21 are 6'4 or taller.

The MIAA is well represented on the All-Region list:

Jalen Overway, Calvin, 1st Team, Region POY (tied w/ Luke Chicone)
Parker Hovey, Hope, 1st Team
Nathan Richardson, Olivet, 2nd Team
Jayden Bradshaw, Trine, 3rd Team

The Mitten Prep Hoops Class of 2026 rankings was mentioned on here a few pages back so I went through to put together a summary for the MIAA.

Obviously an incomplete look at recruiting classes since this is limited to prospects in Michigan, not to mention how recruit rankings can be a crapshoot even at the higher levels, but interesting nonetheless.

Ordered by total number of recruits on the list with each individual ranking shown.

Calvin - 7 (39, 42, 54, 79, 84, 156, 190)
Trine - 4 (59, 76, 99, 102)
Kalamazoo - 3 (32, 73, 100)
Alma - 2 (87, 121)
Albion - 2 (104, 188)
Hope - 1 (126)
Adrian - 0
Olivet - 0

Generally speaking it seems like the top 10 are all D1, the next 20 are all D2. 30-50 is where some D3, NAIA and JUCO start mixing in. Outside about the Top 50 is where the D1/D2s drop off and there are more gaps/non-commits, whether those are guys who may be recruits in other sports, have decided to not play in college, or are maybe hoping for something other than what they have been offered or are otherwise undecided.

Also of interest: Cornerstone shut out on this list so far. My how things have changed in the last decade or so.

Concord wins division IV Michigan high school boys basketball championship last Saturday.  Trine recruit Connor Stevens with 15 pts & 19 reb in the championship game.

Great clip below on the impact that Fred Garland had with the Concord team.  His legacy lives on.
