Calvin Graduate Jordan Brink an NBA World Champion With New York Knicks

Calvin University graduate Jordan Brink is now a NBA World Champion.

A 2015 Calvin University graduate, Brink serves as an assistant coach with the New York Knicks which captured its first NBA World Championship since 1973 last evening.

A native of Dyer, Indiana, Brink (Illiana Christian High School) has been on the support staff of the New York Knicks since 2023 when he was hired by then-Knicks' head coach Tom Thibodeau as the Director of Video/Analytics and Player Development Assistant. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Development of the Knicks in 2024-25. Last summer, newly hired Knicks' head coach Mike Brown promoted Brink to Assistant Coach as well as the head coach of the Knicks' NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

He is the lead for New York Knicks in-game video review challenges. He played a key role in successful challenges during this year's NBA Finals and has one of the highest success rates in the NBA for challenges during his Knicks tenure.

Brink's NBA career has roots in his Calvin University education. As a senior during the 2014-15 academic year, he served as an intern with the Grand Rapids Drive, the NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, which, at the time, held practices at Calvin's Van Noord Arena.

After graduation, he joined the Detroit Pistons as an intern under head coach Stan Van Gundy where he assisted the franchise with NBA draft preparation. He gained a full-time position in 2019 as the club's Head Video Coordinator where he worked with head coach Dwane Casey. In 2021, he was promoted to Assistant/Player Development Coach under Casey and served as the head coach of the Pistons' NBA Summer League Team in Las Vegas. He remained with the Pistons through the 2022-23 season before joining the Knicks prior to the 2023-24 campaign.

At Calvin, Brink was a standout student-athlete. He graduated with a degree in business administration and sports management. In 2015, he was selected as the recipient of Calvin's Bere' Memorial Award, given to Calvin's top senior male student-athlete. A regular member of the Calvin Dean's List and a two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, Brink was named a second team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American ® in 2015.

Brink was a four-year member of the Calvin men's varsity basketball team. As a senior during the 2014-15 season, he captained a Calvin men's basketball team that reached the NCAA III Tournament and claimed MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles. He connected on an iconic game-winning shot in the closing seconds of a 70-69 win over rival Hope in the 2015 MIAA Tournament Championships game. He was named to the All-MIAA First Team for the second straight year in 2015 and was later named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player.

In addition, he was named to the 2015 D3hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region First Team and to the NABC Division III All-District First Team. He was later named to Division III All-America teams selected by the NABC, D3hoops.com and Division III News. As a sophomore and junior, he was part of Calvin teams that captured MIAA Tournament titles and reached the NCAA III Tournament Round of 16. As a sophomore, he was also part of a Calvin team that captured the MIAA regular season crown.

Brink was a six-time MIAA Player of the Week including a three-time selection as a senior. During the 2014-15 season, he was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week once. At the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, he was invited to participate in the NABC Division III Reese's All-Star Game in Salem, Virginia. At the game, he scored 15 points.

Brink is ranked 11th on the Calvin men's basketball career scoring list (1,497 points), second in career three-point field goals (215) and fourth in career assists (282). In addition, he is Calvin's all-time leader in free throw percentage, converting 90.0 percent (307-of-341) of his charity tosses. He also holds the Calvin single-season record for free throw percentage, converting 95.7 percent (44-of-46) of his tries during the 2012-13 season. He is sixth on Calvin's list for career three-point field goal percentage (.433).

In addition to serving as a two-time captain with the Calvin men's basketball team, Brink was a member of Calvin's Student-Athlete-Advisory-Council (SAAC). As part of his undergraduate studies, he was a part of the Calvin student Game Day organization that promoted various Calvin athletics events on and off campus. He also worked as a student assistant in the Calvin Sports Information Department.

Brink is the son of Dr. Dale and Janet Brink of Dyer, Indiana.
