Quote from: RFBredux on May 30, 2025, 11:00:34 AMRedlands promotes the hell out of their summer camp schedule. Maybe take some of that effort, and learn from the coaches there, and put a better offensive product on the field. Counting on two easy wins against a terrible La Verne program is not acceptable and things need to change.

I don't know how it works now, but I know in the old days these summer camps were a major source of income, particularly for the assistant coaches. I'm with you, the camp promotion was less off-putting when the team was competing for championships every year.

I know Mariani is pretty open to new ideas and adjustments on defense. I don't know anything about the new OC. What I know of Jim Good does not give me the impression that he has the desire for a lot of professional growth.

I have heard the same, if APU wanted in the SCIAC...they need to play football. I can't verify if true.
Obviously admin's commitment is key for any school, but APU has some real potential given its size, enrollment criteria, location, and facilities/programs.

Glad the league will be back to 8 teams, help keep travel cost down overall.

I think these camps still are a source of income, not like a D3 coach are not starving. Plus its really good exposure for UR with So Cal kids. Amazing how much it has grown.

I think the new OC will help UR, I think you will see a deeper play calling list and game plans should improve.
All that said it comes down to Jimmy's and Joe's, and not trying to be a downer, but the O linemen issue will always an issue in the SCIAC...best O line wins league...

Whittier announces initial recruiting class of 26 (24 freshmen, two transfers).  Would expect higher numbers next year as the HC only came onboard in February, plus it's gotta be easier to tell prospective players they'll have a chance to make plays on the field as opposed to just prepairing for a year.
