Should have been Mariani in 20 if they weren't gonna open it up nationally.  With the AD getting rid of long time staff,  I would assume she is open to a national search since she has been a few different institutions.

The conference is wide open this year.  APU will be formidable since they can get anyone into school and give them money too.

It seems like we don't have many CLU guys on here, but I would imagine they're starting to get frustrated with their head coach, similar to what we're seeing at Redlands.

It looks like APU and Whittier are both going to have healthy roster numbers this year—potentially 100+ players—which is great to see for two programs bringing football back. APU's roster has a ton of bounce-back and JUCO players, so it'll be interesting to see how quickly everything comes together. I'm assuming Whittier will have a similar makeup, but we probably won't know for sure until their roster is posted online. La Verne looks like they'll be somewhere around 85 players.

How do you think the SCIAC shakes out this year? Any predictions on how teams are going to do?

I will try this again.  I am Chapman College D2 soccer player and my son was a 4 year player at Cal Lutheran Football.  He was recruited by and played under Mac for 2 year and then Lugo for 2 years.  I do not believe that Lugo should be in charge.  He has a losing record in the SCIAC and has only had one .500 season in SCIAC since taking over the HC job.

I have seen Whittier social media, I like the new uniforms, at least they will look good getting thumped this year.

Whittier Roster, 7 O linemen on the roster and just 4 D linemen on the roster....Yikes..most colleges rotate 6+ d linemen. I bet teams go fast on them.

Azusa, Only 40% of the roster is freshman. 16 O linemen and 9 D linemen, with many JC and transfer kids.

That looks to be Whittier's 2025 roster based on the numbers. Not sure why they haven't posted the 2026 roster yet.

There are some great games across the SCIAC this weekend, and it's good to have football back. My predictions are below:

NW (MN) 10 / CMS 24
It's always tough to travel and win on the road. CMS should have plenty of energy playing on the new turf and in the renovated stadium.

Willamette 7 / Pomona-Pitzer 38
I don't see Willamette having much of a chance in this one. PP should control the game from start to finish.

Cal Lutheran 24 / Pacific Lutheran 28
This should be a competitive game, but I think the travel ends up being the difference.

APU 17 / La Verne 14
APU picks up its first win in a close one against La Verne. I expect APU to be well coached and ready to play.

Simpson 56 / Whittier 7
I don't see Whittier having much of a chance against Simpson. Simpson just lost to Southern Oregon by only three points and should be a tough matchup.

Redlands 21 / George Fox 31
I don't think Redlands has enough offensively to keep up. George Fox's home opener will also be a tough environment to play in.

Chapman 24 / Hardin-Simmons 21
If Chapman handles the heat and travel well, they have a real chance to pull this one out. I'm curious to see who steps up to replace the QB/WR duo they had last season.

4 wins in the SCIAC the past 3 seasons for UR.  Picking them middle of the pack or lower seems about right.  Pathetic state of affairs in Redlands.

I think CMS is playing in a brand new stadium, not a renovated one.  It's part of a big sports complex (including baseball and softball fields) built across the road with three field houses too.  The old stadium was renovated and turned into a new soccer stadium, with the old soccer field being used as a practice field.

Took a look at APU's roster.  That is a ton of transfers from all over the place.  A big handful of Cal Lu guys jumped ship and a few LaVerne guys will be playing against their former team mates in game 1. I see EastLA College is a pipeline.  Heck, even a Linfield guy (now APU grad student).....should be interesting to see how that team comes together (or doesn't) but I think APU will be competitive in the SCIAC very quickly.

CMS sports bowl looks sweet and ready to go! Been a long time coming! I'm going to try to get out there for the opener.

I think Redlands is undervalued in the pre-season poll. I expect them to be right in the mix with the top of the league.

Chapman a no-brainer favorite even having to replace a few studs but any of those top-5 teams could win the title. Conference is wide open. We'll know more on Saturday night I guess.

Report from the hot CMS Sports Bowl:

Stadium is cool. Super easy to park right by the field. Nice seats and overall environment. Very sunny and very little shade. Will be interesting to see if they play mostly night games. 1pm games will very sunny and hot, especially on the visitor side.

CMS looked ok. Offense looked good in the 1st half. The RB Nixon is a dude and they looked good up front early. 2 WRs went up and made contested catches. But they bogged completely down in the 2nd half. They lost an OL to injury right before the half and that coincided with their offense going dormant. Not sure I've seen one OL make that big of a difference but maybe they had to do some shuffling to replace him? Defense was mostly solid but the NW QB was able to Houdini out of trouble a few times in the first half. Tough kid and decent athlete. The big DL Gerber for CMS was in the backfield immediately on almost every pass play. He had 3 sacks and could have had more without the QB's escapability. CMS will need to get better on O if they are going to be a factor for the league title but good start for their D and fun time to be a Stag.

Redlands down 0-20 at half. 23 offensive plays for 59 yards. Gonna be a long season for the Bulldogs. Had 8 months to figure this stuff out. If Mariani wasn't the DC, would easily be 35 nothing.

Another brutal night for Bulldog fans in what has become a few years of brutal nights. If the admin had any self respect they'd leave Jim Good on the tarmac but at the very least this looks like the beginning of the end.
