Pretty Straight forward Week

I agree old dog, but I think UR is gonna lose by at least 4 scores.  The offense won't cross the 50 as they did against George Fox and will put the defense in terrible position all night long.

**CMS 27 – La Verne 7**
CMS should dominate this game in the trenches. La Verne has struggled to generate much offensively, and it's going to be tough for them to stay in this one if CMS controls the line of scrimmage from the start.

**Pomona-Pitzer 45 – Whittier 17**
PP should control this game from start to finish. Whittier will have a difficult time generating pressure on the quarterback, which should give PP plenty of opportunities to move the ball. This feels like a comfortable win for the Sagehens.

**Chapman 35 – Redlands 13**
I expect Chapman to play much better on both sides of the ball in this game. Redlands will need to create a couple of turnovers to have a chance to stay in the game. Overall, Chapman has the better team and the stronger offensive line.

Excited to watch this one online and see how much green spray paint Redlands is currently using on the field!

**Cal Lutheran 38 – APU 7**
At some point, I'd like to see Cal Lu establish a consistent running game, which they haven't all season. They have plenty of firepower at wide receiver, but we saw last week against CMS what can happen when the offense becomes too one dimensional.

APU, much like Whittier, just doesn't have the depth right now, and that tends to show up as these games get into the second half. Cal Lu should eventually pull away and win comfortably.

Redlands was down 29-0 at the half and the game was over. Playing at The Runner used to mean something, but zero teams fear Redlands in its current state. Sad to see how far the program has fallen.

I've been watching Redlands football on and off for nearly 20 years, and what I saw last night was one of the most disappointing performances I can remember. The lack of physicality, toughness, and overall willingness to compete was on full display.

Under Coach Maynard, Redlands teams may not have always been the most talented team on the field, but they were always physical, disciplined, and prepared to fight for four quarters. The team Chapman played last night looked completely different. They looked defeated, unmotivated, and, in my opinion, like the least inspired team in the conference right now.

If Chapman doesn't pull its starters and start playing its third- and fourth-string players for much of the second half, that game could have easily turned into a 50-plus point win. That type of performance simply would not have happened under Maynard's watch.

Redlands needs a complete rebuild. This is bigger than fixing one position group or making a few adjustments. The culture, toughness, and identity of the program need to be rebuilt from the ground up.

For a program with the history and tradition Redlands has, I can only imagine how frustrated and disgusted many of the alumni are watching what the program has become.

I was planning to go to the Runner last night but the rain talked me out of it. I checked the halftime score and was happy about my decision.

I talked to a buddy who went to the CMS-ULV game and they said ULV looks way improved. Checking the box score they had 417 yards against the Stags. Claremont's defense has been good to very-good for as long as Marvin Sanders has been the DC. Pretty impressive outing for the Leos to put up that kind of production. No moral victories, but it sounds like that program is headed in the right direction.

La Verne are well coached and have been competitive. Will Redlands even be favored at home?

AI for the Redlands game breakdown.  It is pretty good at this.

Key Matchup Benchmarks
Common Opponent Comparison (Azusa Pacific):Redlands: Beat Azusa Pacific 44–9 (+35 differential)  La Verne: Beat Azusa Pacific 30–3 (+27 differential)  Takeaway: Both teams handled APU comfortably, though Redlands had slightly more explosive play production.
Common Opponent Comparison (Chapman):Redlands: Lost to Chapman 14–36 (-22 differential)  La Verne: Lost to Chapman 10–35 (-25 differential)Takeaway: Nearly identical performance against one of the top tier conference contenders.
Offensive & Defensive Consistency in SCIAC Play:
LA Verne has struggled offensively against SCIAC defenses during their current 3-game skid, averaging just 11.3 points per game in conference play. Redlands has averaged 24 points per game in SCIAC action (driven by their 44-point breakout against APU), but their scoring output has capped out at 14 points in 3 of their 5 outings.
Game Prediction
This matchup features two programs looking to rebound from recent conference losses. Home field advantage at Ted Runner Stadium combined with Redlands' slight edge in high-end scoring output gives the Bulldogs the advantage.
Predicted Outcome Score
Winner Redlands Bulldogs Predicted Score Redlands 24, La Verne 17
Game Flow:
Expect a defensive battle through the first half. Redlands' ability to wear down line play in the second half should give them enough margin to hold off a late La Verne push.

GAME 6

**Whittier 7 – CMS 38**

Whittier has struggled to generate much offensively, and this feels like a game CMS should control from the opening whistle. The bigger question is how long CMS keeps its starters on the field. With Chapman looming the following week in what could be a matchup of undefeated conference teams, I would expect CMS to protect some key pieces once this game gets out of hand.

I would also be surprised if Nixon plays. It looks like he hasn't been on the field since the Pomona-Pitzer game, and he is a massive part of what CMS wants to do offensively when healthy. Even without him, CMS should have more than enough to win comfortably.

**Chapman 34 – APU 7**

Chapman should dominate this matchup on both sides of the ball. APU's best chance is to shorten the game, run the football, bleed the clock and limit Chapman's possessions. If this turns into a game where Chapman is consistently playing on a short field and creating explosive plays, it could get away from APU quickly.

APU is still building and, in my opinion, is probably another two years away from being a serious conference contender. Chapman has too much depth, experience and talent right now. I expect the Panthers to take care of business.

**Pomona-Pitzer 19 – Cal Lutheran 24**

This could be one of the better games of the week. At some point, Cal Lutheran has to establish some type of consistent running game. Right now, their offense relies far too heavily on throwing the football, and eventually good teams are going to make them pay for being one-dimensional.

Pomona-Pitzer should be able to keep this close and make Cal Lu work for everything. I still think Cal Lu has enough firepower offensively to make a few more plays late and escape with the win, but this feels like a four-quarter game.

**La Verne 20 – Redlands 24**

This is a very interesting matchup. Redlands will have to find a way to contain La Verne's top receiver, who looked like he was finally getting back into form last week. If La Verne can consistently create explosive plays through the air, Redlands could be in trouble.

That being said, I think Redlands finds a way to grind this one out. Their defense will need to make La Verne earn every possession and avoid giving up easy scores. This feels like a physical, close game that could come down to one turnover or one possession late in the fourth quarter. I'll take Redlands at home in a tight one.
