Just read the E8 article that had IC as the pick to win the league.
3 first place votes.
Am i way off base or alone in thinking that AU or Fisher is more likely to win this thing?
I respect IC- no doubt- but on many accounts this was going to be a down year....wasnt it?

Pardon this interloper making a comment on this.  But 3 first place votes hardly seems like a lock.  Not really a ringing endorsement for Ithaca to win.  It sounds more like there's a lot of doubt about which team will be able to step up and take control with only a few people thinking Ithaca has the better chance.  A lot of the posters here have been saying this seems like a fairly wide open year, and it seems the pollsters would agree with that.

Alfred has holes...Fisher has holes...Wick has holes...Ithaca has holes...   That type of spread in the poll almost makes it seem like the eventual champion will be the one to stumble the least, instead of a team that steps up and takes control.  It could end up a year where even the top team finishes with a couple of losses and you end up with "A beat B but B beat C and D who A lost to..."sort of thing.  Sounds like a year of excitement to me!  Your team is never really out of it, and it's not decided until the final whistle.

cant wait for the season

theoriginalupstate

Just read it 91 and the only thing that stuck out to me was this...

"three of their five conference losses (by Ithaca) in the past three years have been to the Cardinals by a combined score of 108-32."

wick has holes? You bet, post-Boltus era, this teams D better improve fast from last year because King Boltus is no longer there to garner them over 50 points in a game. Hopefully some success will come their way in 09. dlippiel will always pull for Springfield and that funky triple opt in the E8. Josh Carter should be more mature, have a better grasp of the O, and hopefully the D will bring support on that other side of the ball. dlippiel predicts the pride may turn a few heads this year in hte E8.

I think JP is right about how the E8 plays out this year.  And in my mind, that gives Springfield the best chance of pulling it out.  They only play 2 games on grass all year (Kings and Mt. Ida), travel to Alfred early and then get Ithaca and Fisher at home to end the year when the triple-option is in high gear.  I give the Pride a 30% chance to win the AQ, followed by Alfred/Fisher/Ithaca at 25% each and Utica at 10%.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

fisheralum91

10% for UC seems high dont you think?
One thing is for sure- they came to play against Fisher last year.....That was a hard game to watch!

'91 I'll see you at the MUC game!  I'm living back in Rochester so maybe we'll catch a couple games this year!
