Pat,
What gives me pause about this MAY piece is a quote attributed to Curt Fitzpatrick ......Fitz was NOT the coach at the time, what with Tom Blumenauer tapped in mid-FEBRUARY .......so????

Pat, more on this release from a source unfamiliar to us .....and contains stats from when-ever, certainly not from any prior CSt play....

Rescigno, who was widely considered the cornerstone of the Red Dragons' offense and a strong candidate for D3 Player of the Year, reportedly made the decision late Monday night after internal discussions broke down. Though details remain limited, multiple sources close to the situation suggest the fallout stemmed from miscommunication involving playing time guarantees and offseason training responsibilities.

A statement released by Rescigno's representation early Tuesday morning reads:
*"Mike Rescigno has made the difficult decision to step away from SUNY Cortland football due to unresolved issues that have compromised his trust in the program. He wishes his teammates and the university the best moving forward."*

Head coach Curt Fitzpatrick addressed the media briefly this morning but declined to go into detail, citing privacy and ongoing conversations.
*"We're disappointed by Mike's decision, but we respect it. This program has always been about more than one player, and we'll regroup as a team,"* Fitzpatrick stated.

Rescigno was instrumental in leading Cortland to a conference title last season,
passing for over 3,200 yards and 34 touchdowns. His leadership, precision,
and playmaking ability had made him a fan favorite and a locker-room leader.

Teammates have expressed shock at the development. One senior player, who requested anonymity, said:
"We all thought Mike was locked in for
a final run at the championship. This hit us out of nowhere."*

It remains to be seen whether Rescigno will enter the transfer portal, pursue
professional opportunities, or step away from football entirely. With the 2025
season fast approaching, SUNY Cortland now faces the difficult task of rebuilding
its offensive identity without its star quarterback.

I don't mean to be that guy...

But it wasn't obvious this was fake when they made up stats and "quoted" a coach who is no longer there?

Agreed, but it seemed like it needed to be said out loud.
