Cortland in opener scores two TDs starting the game and two starting final half in 28-18 Saturday win at Grove City PA. RDragons up 28-3 thru three frames, then secondary springs a leak and PAC-regarded Wolverines make a game of it with 15 points. Poised to get even closer till N. Jean-Lubin intercepts. Corts dominate first half. M. Resigno 12x20, 180yds, 1td passing, 16x91, 2td running. Bit of redemption outing for Resigno whose Dragon career began with rocky performance in home loss to Grove City last year.
    Vet A. Gallo runs 14x107, td clip; J. Zeva 3x38, td; J. Iadevaio 4x44; J. LaPrairie 3x83 receiving. GC qb M. Holloman 20x40, 276yds, 2td, 1int passing total featuring 15x25 second half.
    Nice addition to CSt backfield is frosh runner L. Singleton who after terrific prep career at L.I. Sachem North was at West Point. Goes 5x59 today.

Hopefully he's getting a good grad degree.  He's got 12 carries as the #3 back in two games against New Haven and Franklin Pierce. A big change from putting up huge numbers and being a top 10 (maybe top 5) RB nationally in D3.

Worth pointing out, re: his production. Sometimes transfers take a bit to get integrated into an offense. To wit, Jamie Donovan's 2004 season at Ithaca.

Week 1 and 2, he had 12 total carries. By Week 6, he was dropping 200 yards on Brockport.

Simmons had 3 touches for 5 yards in Week 1, but those numbers increased to 12 for 62 in Week 2. I would be willing to bet, by season's end, he'll be the feature back and putting up strong numbers.

I watch probably more than the recommended daily allowance of Marist football and can further contribute that their rushing attack funnels primarily through their 5th year senior QB1 and a 4th year senior tailback.

Watching Marist football may shorten your lifespan! Their stadium is across town from me and unfortunately, their football facilities would be mid tier at the D3 level. Their level of play is blah as well. While I was at Cortland, I always wondered how we would stack up in a hypothetical game.

Rather uninspiring first half where defenses prevailed (and Cortland up 10-0 on M. Rescigno to S. Cotton 18 yd. TD pass with seconds left), RDragons  strike early in final half to begin pullaway. Go on to 26-0 win over Union in Schnectady. Despite final margin, defending LL champ Dutchmen veteran 'D' a headache for guests. But Union attack and untimely penalties low points. CSt guard limits Union to 31 yds rushing, 98 passing.
    Rescigno with 102 yds (13 lugs) on the ground, 137 passing (13x24, td). E. Gallo scores twice from short range and held to 55 yds (17 totes). Soph pk C. Callard hits 34, 24 yd field goals.
    Dragons 2-0 and Hartwick next up in home and Empire League opener. 'Wick today shellacking Buffalo St. Union falls to 0-2, same same as year ago before claiming LL
laurels.

Wondering, anyone else viewing Corts/Union game think analyst was in next room talking to main guy on the same mic? Or is my stereo speaker need work?

Whatever the opposite of a big-game team is, that's Brockport to me.

It's one thing to be unable to get past Cortland for 97 straight years.

But this disaster class at Hobart...they just play worse against good teams. And yeah, everyone does (that's why good teams are good teams). But I just see them lay massive eggs in these statement games. No chance they beat Cortland this year. Utica the team to challenge the Red Dragons

Red Dragons did what they needed to do. Very blue collar today. No flash or razzle dazzle! Mount Union scored with :12 to play to outlast Grove City! Hopkins falls. Maybe there isn't that much difference between the top and bottom of the top 25 this year, outside of NCC.
