Reg would advise looking more for the "deal" in this market rather than the rate you can get on the mortgage.  Unless you are planning on owning it long enough for the interest rate to actually matter, then you make or lose money on a house when you purchase it.

For instance, if you can pick up a $300k house in the low 2's , then who cares if you are at 5.15 or 4.85%

FWIW Reg got in at 4.85% on a 15 year fixed in January.

Yea JU is trying to do both though.  And Im not sure if Im going to own it long enough to have the rate matter.  Im trying to get the best of both worlds.  And its still tough to find deals in Boston where the housing market is still staying high.  People seem to keep houses on the market for a very long time and seem to be able to afford to do so in looking for their price.

JU missed out on the opportunity to look at this house in Walpole, MA.  Price dropped from 479,000 to being sold at 419,000 in a few months....

KS stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last weekend in Detroit.  KS can do the surgery.  KS fee is a case of ML and a bottle of Jack Single Barrel.
