For the first time in RTs life, he is disillusioned. He doesn't know how to feel should an ECAC bid be extended. The last 2 weeks have RT in a major funk. Surely we're better then losing our last game ever on '86 then following it up w a loss to KP with a possible NCAA berth at stake. Is missing Savasi THAT much of a factor??

Hey atleast they beat Union.  Isn't that all that matters at RPI?

and WPI, 2-0 in trophy games.  You know what the worst part of all this is?  They lost CONFERENCE games... all the talk about a soft schedule doesn't mean ish... they screwed this season with 2 bad losses to conference teams.  The bad schedule probably would have helped them had they just won today.

Atleast we might have known they were gonna suck earlier in the season instead of being 7-0...Remember when chicks used to get our hopes up, maybe make some comments or touch you certain ways, then the night got late and you got nuthin...?  What did we call them?  Something...tease?  Yeah, that's about right.

What is this?

The Rev finally checks the scores (not wanting to jinx Hobart) and sees that the world has been turned upside down.

Bizarre.

+K for comparing RPI to a (blank) tease. That's hilarious.

I've been wondering all day -- all week, sort of, if I'd have preferred seeing Union win the Shoes and RPI beat HoHoHobart, if it meant NCAAs against . . . against . . . Plymouth St?  Lycoming?

Of course we would have rather seen that.  But some still think a successful RPI season is beating Union.  i tend to disagree.

PBR...

tough day for the rpi folks...pbr feels your pain....dvc opens up a giant size can of whoop azz on albright and lyco squeaks by leb val....pbr is off to go see quantum of solace and make himself feel better w/ a tub of popcorn and coke and watch james bond run rough shot over the evil in the world!!

While the rest of the LLPP was watching or listening to the games, The Rev was in the theater watching Quantum of Solace.

Not bad at all.  The Bond girls are fit.  The Rev's only problem is that the alleged criminal mastermind reminds The Rev of the kind of guy who would turn down wings at the Ruck because they are too messy.

Namely, a dork.

What an absolute crazy day! How the hell did RPI lose today? I still am in shock. You know maybe the parity is good for the league as a whole. It just seems to me that maybe the LL in comparison to others is just not strong. I don't know if this is going to be the year we get an NCAA win. Let's go Statesmen! Congrats to the pumpkin heads for the LL title. I thought they were really going to take it to Rochester. I am ****ing dumbfounded today. Cortland getting beat up by Ithaca? I thought that was going to go the other way. I don't know what to say? Anyone having some ideas what some first round match-ups are going to be? Any thoughts on RPI getting an ECAC game? Will they take it?

Yeah, again I'm with you.  The really frustRaTing part about it is that we were so close to having both.  Freaking FG with :00, and 2 points to MMA?  Ugh.

I also want to send congrats to the Dutchmen for their hard fought win today against Hanna. These kids have some great fight in them and have shown some serious heart this season. I for one am excited about next year and feel we will be a force to be reckoned with in the league. I just hope our special teams can improve and become consistent. I think that area of the team really hurt the DUtch this year. I know these kids are busting their asses and I dont want to be negative at all. I just hope we can get the special teams going and start kicking some extra points and make some tackles on kickoffs. Great job today Dutch congrats. I am very proud to be a Union fan.

The Rev went back to look at the 2008 results and this was a strange season.

Not that Sus is a huge powerhouse, but losing to St Lawrence is an upset.  On the other hand, Sus stuck it to WPI and Rocho.  And they stuck it to WPI in a big way.
Merchant Marine obviously pulled off the biggest upset of the season by beating RPI today.
Union did not field a very strong team this year, but upset Hobart.  I think we can call this one a genuine upset.  The Rev was certainly upset.

The Rev cannot decide if Hobart beating RPI was an upset.  He thinks not because the teams were of pretty equal standing, and the end of season results bear out The Rev's opinion.

In previous years The Rev would have consider Rochester beating Union an upset, but isn't so sure if it could be considered an upset this year.  Same goes for WPI against Union.

It seems like the LL gained some parity this year.  We had two teams in the running all season for the top slot, four teams in the middle, and two teams running head-long for the bottom slot.  It forms a perfect bell curve.

Now it is up to the LL teams in the post season--Hobart at the NCAAs and RPI in the ECACs--to show the other leagues that the LL isn't just a perennial first-round drop out, but real contenders.

The Rev looks forward to seeing how the brackets come out.

Congrats to Hobart.  They deserve everything they get. Unfortunately, I don't think Hobart is that strong this year.  Strong enough to win the LL yes...but I just don't think they are that strong overall, and definately not as good as they've been in past years.  Let's hopes today's debacle cause a clustermuck in the East, and Hobart gets a decent seed and plays a team that was questionable to get in...I think Hobart and Plymouth could be a potential matchup.  Here is my prediction:

1.  Mount Union (A)
2.  Ithaca (A)
3.  Cortland (A)
4.  Hobart (A)
5.  Plymouth State (A)
6.  Lycoming (A)
7.  Rowan (C)
8.  Curry/Husson (C)

I think Hartwick might take that Rowan slot, since they were ranked ahead of Rowan, and they both beat middle of the pack teams this weekend.

RPI will not turn down an ECAC Bowl game.  I think they can't, actually, according to ECAC rules.

Here's a good sign of how the Union Atheltic Department views the football program--on their website I can read all about how Volleyball, women's soccer and hockey all lost today, but I can't get even the boxscore for the Football win.
