All 3 games went as expected, although looks like Buffalo State made RPI sweat. Union appears to have cruised.

as for the Dr. Jackson stuff, I think I'd feel better if someone could link me to anything published with the administration side of the story, so to speak. Here and on the hockey forum it's just an anti-Jackson echo chamber. That's been true long before Covid. I don't trust that sentiment coming from a place of intellectual honesty.

Curious why you actually think the 'administration side of the story' might bring anything worthwhile. They are going to say it's for the safety of the students and faculty. There's nothing more they can or will say. As I've mentioned before, go ahead and close it off to outside fans if you have to, but to deny parents from both the home and away teams is wrong and despicable. Period. There's nothing more to be said or debated. Despicable. Lazy. Embarrassing. Ridiculous. Whatever negative adjective you'd like to use, it likely fits here.
Mach,
I just hope she comes to show some empathy(and science) by allowing the team to have their Parents and family admitted for Senior Day.

The other school where this was happening (Hawai'i) is now being permitted to move to limited capacity - I think I saw 50 percent.

So maybe RPI will relax at some point, but the ongoing hardheadedness is certainly puzzling to me.

What is the endgame?  Does the RPI administration want people to think they know something the global health and scientific community doesn't?  Are they trying to placate donors?

Caz I think the hardheadedness has to do with the illogical decision to not let parents into a stadium when the kids are going out to eat with them in restaurants after the game, most likely without masks in crowded bars and restaurants.  Then Sunday morning they probably meet for breakfast in other crowded places, etc, etc.  Unless RPI is on some sort of lockdown and students aren't allowed to leave?

I'm not an athletic director expert by any means, but I assume it would be very easy to give each student 4 tickets to give to family members.  Then when family members come to the games, they aren't allowed anywhere else except the bathroom.

I feel silly even typing this.  Why are you defending this decision?

We were always given assigned 'family' tickets way back when, not sure if they still do it that way. That is an EASY resolution, and could be one where you can only give to YOUR family members(can't give to other players for them to distribute) and you HAVE to comply that they are family. Could even do the vaccinated/negative test route if you were that crazy. Shirley just doesn't want to have anyone put in any effort to make this happen, including herself. I'm slightly out of the loop, but I'm really curious if the parents are making a lot of noise about it. I hope they are standing outside her office with foghorns 24/7.

Nope. BSU scored two TDs with under 3 mins left. Garage time.

To go further, the second one scored as time expired.

Week 7 Liberty League Picks ( 3-0 last week, 28-3 YTD):

RPI             17              Hobart             21           Hobart's Denham and Boswell(at the Boz!) long runs in
fourth quarter edge out Marinoupolus air attack as two
tough defenses make them earn it.
Rochester   28              Buffalo St        14             Yellowjackets in control at Bengals house

Ithaca        31              SLU                 10            Bombers pull away in second half

If this prediction of a Hobart win holds true, only Union and Ithaca remain undefeated, as Bartman dreams for a one loss pile-up at end of season with TOP tiebreaker determining  LL NCAA berth. Bartman welcomes the RPI parents to the BOZ and hopes they realize he wishes them the best but needs this critical win to save the Statesmen season.

DEPTH...Union is off this week.  Looking back at the first 6 games the Dutchmen have "under performed" on offense right?...NO, not really. They've scored 30 points or more in every game, averaging 39.5. But why are they not scoring 40 or 50 with their stacked line-up? The issue has been keeping the skill position players healthy and on the field. RB Ike Irabor has missed 1.5 games...Backup RB Mike Fiore has missed the last 3 games...RB Grif Walner the last 1.5...Star WR Andre Ross Jr. missed 2.5 and emerging star WR Robbie Tolbert a full game. In fact the starters Irabor, Ross and Tolbert have only played a handful of quarters together. Fortunately for the Dutchmen one guy who hasn't missed time is QB Will Bellamy.  Bellamy has been solid. He's had to look at different pieces in the huddle countless times but still gets it done with ability and leadership. Another solid piece is the offensive line. They've played intact and, knock on wood, injury free. The line play has enabled players such as Fiore and RB Jonathan Anderson to show their considerable talents. They've protected Bellamy so he can spread the ball to 12 different receivers. And the Defense...It's been excellent and gains strength and experience weekly. No "under performing" here.

Now the Dutchmen get a week to heal their wounds before getting back into it against Rochester. A favorable part of the schedule which should allow Union to get everything together for the LL title stretch run.   FTC ;D

No need for them to relax anything. Hardheadedness not puzzling at all. Easy to issue stifling edicts when the people issuing them exempt themselves from either following them or complying with them. They include an advisory supposedly posted on the school website recommending against travel.

The public stated mission of RPI since it's founding in 1824 is "to apply science to the common purposes of life."   ::)

Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson is a scientist. She's a theoretical physicist, an MIT graduate, a know it all, a hypocrite and apparently a very stubborn woman. That kind of mentality has been going around lately.  :o

+k to tony/troy for outing this hypocritical elite for denying the Parents of the Athletes of Troy the simple pleasure of attending their son's football game and grossly interpreting the actual science. This action will be more appropriately studied in the halls of the political SCIENCE department in the future.Indeed as Ice Bear scrolls ...Let them eat cake ("Qu'ils mangent de la brioche")...of course the next step of advocating the guillotine for Dr. Jackson is a gross overreach, but I think I read the grandson of the Frenchman that engineered the guillotine attended RPI.

Ice Bear is looking forward to the RPI/Pumkinhead showdown this weekend. Ice has watched both teams play on video a couple of times and he really doesn't know what to expect.

I've given up expecting to be right about RPI, but I think Hobart wins this one.
