Syracuse lost to Notre Dame 70-7 yesterday.

Josh Pate says that is the worst loss by Syracuse since they lost to Union in the 1890's.

Union beat Syracuse 75-0 on November 1,1891. They played eight times between 1890-1897. Union won seven of them.

I was streaming the RPI/Fisher game(no technical difficulties) until about halftime when I tried flipping over to the Union game and couldn't stream it...It's kinda funny espn is loaded with excuses, because last year I remember having the exact same issues for several of the games. If the NCAA is going to require these games be streamed via espn, they need to get their sh!t together. Sure, the number of fans is pretty low and D3 is not a real revenue generator, but if there is a requirement for this, it should be flawless. I didn't have a single issue with streaming games all season, not on the espn app.

NCAA has posted the Muhlenberg/Union game on YouTube.

Not sure if anyone caught the Endicott/Salisbury game, but it was a good one. Endicott looked very overmatched early, but tightened up the defense and their offense started moving the ball. They had a chance to tie the game in the 4th from like the inch line and called a boneheaded play from shotgun. Seriously, 3 inches. QB sneak will get that 97 times out of 100. Instead they handed it off 4 yards behind the LOS and that was that. Great effort overall. QB had some good reads but throws like it's a shotput and a few were a little too slow to the WRs.

In any case, with the thinking that Salisbury can likely compete with anyone, this was a really nice showing by Endicott.

I was at the game and kudos to Endicott. I think Endicott played well on offense and their HC/OC took advantage of Salisbury scheme, which  typically happens early in games. Endicott also added tempo in 3rd to get back in game as well. That appeared to surprise Salisbury. Salisbury did adjust, but poor special teams play gave momentum back to Endicott as Salisbury defense had settled down after quick 3rd quarter tds.  I think Salisbury offensively aside from one drive in 3rd was able to do what it wanted, especially when they were ahead of the chains. I mentioned in the NJAC channel that the game would come down to Salisbury defense vs Endicott offense and a key special teams play. Endicott actually won the special teams game, but as you mentioned that key 4th down stop was the difference. A bigger difference was Salisbury DB chasing down a fleet footed #1 from Endicott, stopping him at the 4, which eventually led to 4th down stop.  I too didn't think Endicott QB threw the ball with pop, but he managed the game well and the scheme allows for great success and didn't make any errant throw. I'd say he'd fall in the middle to top of pack of NJAC QBs. Salisbury in its current state will rely on if they can protect the ball and outscore opponents with its defense limiting big plays and stopping run.

Pretty cool seeing Coach Behrman's John Carrol knock off Mt. Union. Feels like his move from Union was a good one.

I agree - and I think his program has more accomplishments ahead of it.

It's a perfect fit for him - his whole family is around there, and he was a QB for JCU in the early 90s. And it doesn't get much better than recruiting from northeast Ohio with a direct line to a ton of catholic prep schools.

"The d3 zone" has a youtube channel that does a great job breaking down a bunch of playoff games with highlights from the games.  John Carrol has a tough defense with a lot of size.  Just poked over to the OAC board and it is basically like the sun burnt out.

This is great for D3 football that the OAC is not automatic anymore.Great story line for Behrman and JCU. I'll certainly be rooting for them. Mount Union calling for firing of a coach that has never lost the OAC title. Not my issue, but it's gettin ugly in Alliance, as they were really pumped to play in Canton.

Yeah, not going to lie, I find watching Mount fans melt down immensely enjoyable, almost as much fun as (but less rare than) watching NCC fans melt down.

It's insane watching them complain that kids are spoiled because want a chance to play at other schools immediately rather than stand on the sidelines for three years at Mount.

We're all guilty of going overboard in our criticisms at various points (myself included), but some people really need to understand that these kids aren't playing football for us. They owe us exactly nothing. If Michael Reed walks off the field with 10 seconds left in a tied Cortaca next year, and never goes near a football again for the rest of his life, I'm going to wish the kid well and root for whoever ends up taking the snap.

I have interviewed countless student-athletes during my career, and it's so important to remember that these kids have things going on in their lives -- stressors, challenges, tragedies -- that impact their decisions, that you have no idea about. And regardless of the motivation behind their decisions, they sure as **** aren't based on what us as fans want, nor should they be.

It's football. It's not that serious. We all gotta go touch some grass (snow).

Amen to that. The beautiful thing about D3 is that is clearly and specifically all about the players, and no one else. (And I'm not just making that up  - it's the essence of the D3 philosophy statement: https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2013/11/14/division-iii-philosophy-statement.aspx.)

Caz Bombers

I guess I understand it based on their unbelievable history, but what I find so repellent about the Mount Union fans (except for the late great MUC57 "go everybody!") is their utter joylessness.

None of them seem to even like football. They just want to see the opponent immediately liquefied, and if they're not up 40 by halftime they snarl and foam at the mouth.

And don't think players aren't aware of that. Talk all you want about "The Standard", but why sit on the sidelines for three years, play as a senior, and then have anything other than winning the Stagg Bowl mean you and your teammates are treated as a colossal disappointment who've let down the program? Every player and coach everywhere wants to win every game, but that doesn't mean they all want to be beating themselves up after every loss.

Coaches are adults -- and not just in the 18-year old legal sense, as in the fully developed brain sense-- they make more money than (most) of us to do what they do, and I think this makes them fair game for reasonable criticisms of performance.

(I still think it's critical to remember that they're not curing cancer, and they have families they support, and we shouldn't be so quick to want them unemployed just because they went 7-3 instead of the 9-1 we think they "should" have gone. There are probably people who don't think we're great at our jobs and they don't have public forums to say that.)

Mount got a lot of flack for turning off comments on their social posts about the game, but even from the little I've seen on the OAC board, they made the right call.
