Mike Green , Hobart DC has accepted the HC job at Gettysburg . Mike has been on the Hobart staff following his All American season at Hobart while anchoring the offensive line at the Center position in 2013. He was 34-8 as a player and 88-31 as a coach over the last 15 years. Good luck to Mike , he will be missed , and I'm sure he will use his Mathematics degree to turn around the Gettysburg program.
Although I'm happy for Mike , I'm kinda depressed for Hobart since he was such a great guy and very effective coach. Kevin DeWall will have a challenge replacing Mike, although I'm sure he's up to the task. With Nate Milne at Muhlenberg, Hobart has 2 of the HC positions in the Centennial Conference.

I am getting caught up on this just now.  This is absolutely psychotic behavior.

Someone sent me a bit of the Social Media banter. It's kind of embarrassing for Division 3 football. Frank should not be looked at as an ambassador of DIII. All he does is stir the pot and act like a complete a$$hat to anyone who comments. Disgusting behavior.

I'm really liking Frank's outfit for the game.He must have trained at the BTBarnum Circus master of ceremonies online school. 8-)

LOL. He shops at an exclusive apparel store called 'Look at me! Look at me!'.

Jeff Behrman is not only the former coach of Union College, but also of John Carroll University. Congrats to Coach Behrman on being hired as the head coach at FCS D1 Bucknell University.

I thought Behrman would be a lifer at Carroll as that was his alma mater and where he grew up. I think the man is an excellent coach and wish him well at Bucknell. I'll be rooting for him.
A long time fan of DIII Football!

I am hearing word that the IC head coaching search is not going as smoothly as people would like. The word I've heard used is "disorganized". I don't have much more than that but I don't think the new AD is winning any favor with how things are going...

I'll never understand why they thought replacing Susan with a JUCO guy was a good idea. Reminds me of when they hired Hartwick's AD 20+ years ago and then all the teams basically turned into Hartwick.

A couple of thoughts based on the recent Union searches. First, I think a key challenge is that there just aren't as many great candidates for a "strong" D3 HC job (like Ithaca or Union) as there used to be - you are probably only get to see a couple of guys that you really, really like, and the stars need to align.  Once upon a time, a strong D3 HC job was a step up from a DI-AA OC/DC job; today, the opposite move is much more common.  I think FCS is just much more attractive relative to D3 than it used to be.  Former Union DC Trotta just left an HC job at SUNY Maritime to be a position coach with Behrman at Bucknell; former Union CB coach Jason Nelson, who had moved to be the DC and U Chicago, is also going to Bucknell as a position coach.  The more the D3 HC job is a stepping stone, not an end goal, the harder it is to find the right guy.

The other thought is that every winter second without a HC hurts.  Union's AD ran great processes both times, but it still took five weeks to replace Behrman (Dec. 19 to Jan. 26), and that gap had a real impact on recruiting that cycle.  They ran a fabulous process last year and had Drach announced less than four weeks after Poppe left (Dec. 2 to Dec. 29), which helped Drach to land a strong first class.  (That group, who were sophomores this year, were a major part of Union's bounce-back this year.)

In a related news, the hollowing out of Susquehanna in the wake of Pervovich's departure has been something to see.  Of their five underclassman on the D3 all-region team, four have announced they're transferring (QB, RB, K, and DB).  I've seen at least two more starters (DB and WR) also enter the portal.  Ouch.

Ithaca won the Empire 8 commissioner's Cup every single year it was a member of the conference, from 2006-07 to 2016-17. So that doesn't track, at all

Ithaca should be very good destination for a D3 Coach. However ,the recruiting clock is ticking. Hobart lost our DC to Gettysburg and he was a very good recruiter, so gaps in the staff can  be an issue at this time of the year. Especially losing your HC.
I think Drach at Union did a great job pulling things together this season. That said, I think Drach has his eye on the next level and 2025 only padded his resume .
