Caz Bombers

Quote from: stlawus on October 02, 2026, 02:27:52 PMBard used to be in the Skyline. I don't know why they ever left. That conference is perfectly suited for them competitively and travel wise. They were very clearly recruited to the LL as a travel partner for Vassar as the travel pairing used to be Vassar-RPI. But that kind of got negated with the addition of Ithaca since one of the three capital area teams had to be paired with one of the western NY teams or Ithaca which is quite a haul.

they left because the LL invited them and their president wanted to be associated with LL schools and not Skyline schools. He and their administration were told it was a bad fit competitively without huge upgrades to budget and infrastructure - they didn't care then and they don't care now.

Well, Dickinson finally beats Johns Hopkins for the first time in 17 attempts which confirms any faint hope of a Ithaca at-large bid (and therefore a Liberty League at-large bid) is dead.

Everybody has their target now if they want to play on: take the conference crown.  All that's left is to see who will rise to meet that challenge.

The Saints get 14 first downs against Union in a 49-7 loss last night, which shows improvement.
Hobart has confirmed that QB Aidan Conrath will not be available today( he has shown great promise but can't stay on the field). Last year at Butterfield he started 9-10 in passing only to go down with a season ending injury. Backup QB Jeremy Weiss had a nightmare game against RPI last week, so hopefully the preparation this week will be evident. Hobart's back is up against the wall and they need to find the secret sauce from 2 years ago when they had 2 glorious goal line stands that led to a win over the Bombers and eventually a LL title.
I am realistic about the odds but the BOZ magic can never be discounted. It's beautiful football weather for a LL upset.

Nice W for the U last night up in Canton. Union wins its third consecutive game in a row that they were supposed to win. That's what competitive teams do, win when they should. Obviously a big step up in competition is on the way. I don't really know what to expect, guessing anything can happen in an LL that is there for the taking for a few teams.

Hoping for a competitive and injury free day of football in the LL today.

The burning question as we near halftime: Will Hilbert end up with positive yardage? Right now they stand at -4 total yards in a 48-0 bloodbath about halfway through quarter #2.

Machiavelli

My god is Hilbert bad. RPI is up 48-0 with 7:10 left in 2Q. RPI already has the backups in. So gross. The quest for 100 is in play!

Of course 100 is in play. The question is whether RPI has the stomach to go out and take it.

My guess is, like Ithaca before them, they call off the dogs well before it gets to that point.

Has to be demoralizing - not to mention painful - for Hilbert.

Machiavelli

Not anymore. Game has been stopped for like 20 minutes to take a Hilbert kid out on a stretcher. They shouldn't be on this field. It's too dangerous for these kids.

I was wondering why the live Stats weren't updating. Absolutely hate to hear that.

Machiavelli

On a different note, I know they have to pay the bills, but these goddamn ad pop-ups that cover the entire phone screen and don't have a 'close' button may end me.

Machiavelli

RPI returned the opening kickoff of the 3rd. 62-0. Dear lawd.

ICGrad

76-0 in the 3rd. They might do it.

I said something similar to a buddy of mine. I would not be surprised if they are unable to finish the season due to lack of players.

I don't see how losing like this is good for these guys.

But how about Buff State showing some life?

Machiavelli

They should just let Rochester, St Lawrence, Buff St and Hilbert play weekly round robin HS jamboree style games each week.

I'm not sure I've ever seen an otherwise seemingly well-coached team commit as many idiotic penalties as Hobart. Just crazy.
