Union travels to Hilbert Saturday but I don't expect the huge beat down scores you guys are projecting. Why not? There are a couple of factors. One is found in looking at last year's game, a 34-13 snoozer in Schenectady where QB Patch Flanagan played the first half throwing 2 TD passes and Union went up 24-0. That was it for Patch and the first teamers. Coach Drach cleared the bench in the 2nd half using all backups including 5 different quarterbacks. In all Union completed 10 passes to 10 different receivers. :o  92 Garnet Chargers got into the game. Many for their first time. Drach is not interested in running up the score. He wants to build his roster and there's no better way than giving guys playing time..If Union gets out to a solid lead this week I'd expect more of the same except it won't be 92 players since travel restrictions will limit Union's dressed players to around 55. Hopefully all of them will play and they'll be no injuries. Maybe they'll find a running back. :o ...Union 41-13.

Just for insight, I'm pretty sure RPI was on their 2nd and 3rd stringers before halftime, and legitimately down to 5th and 6th stringers by the beginning of the 4th quarter(some luxury with it being a home game and more kids dressed). Obviously the strength in depth would dictate how that plays out, but in the RPI game, as a viewer, you couldn't tell the difference against Hilbert. Everyone looked like a superstar.

Ithaca was up 49-0 20 minutes in and started liberally subbing. Pretty sure it was their 2nd (or even 3rd) string qb who threw the 2nd quarter pick six, giving Hilbert their only points for the day.

Announced today that Cortaca will be available on the YES Network within it's broadcast and streaming area.  According to the SUNY-Cortland press release, that will include a live stream for non-subscribers via DAZN, which YES recently partnered with to become their streaming service provider.

I'm kind of hoping for personal reasons that free live stream will include those not living in the YES broadcast area.

Update: Freddie and his boys are flying home on Nov 8th. So no Cortaca for them.

Well, I have my brothers YES signin as a backup.

I don't know how many on these boards know who Freddie is... he was a rockstar on X (twitter) and Instagram. He and his mates were here for the World Cup. They are from Germany. They traveled around the US, eating, going places other than the game getting to country music... they got really into Ella Langley. She found out, and got them front row ticket and VIP backstage. They went to Buc ee's, Waffle House, historical places.

Media scares and lies to people that are thinking of traveling here. Without fault, so many short videos of Cup fans just soaking up America... singing Sweet Caroline at a Red Sox game. They realized we great hosts, and not how we are often portrayed.

Anyway long story short... Freddie and his mates are here going to American football games. Before their trip he asked what are the games he must catch. There's so many good trophy games in D3... but if you have to pick just one... it's Cortaca. I slid into his DM's and told him Cortaca at Yankee Stadium. Gave him history/rivalry info and why he should go. He's primarily doing D1 games, but you never know. I'm gonna slide in his DM's a few more times. You never know. If you want to tweet him, and do the same... you should.

RPI taking care of business, up 26-7 on St. Lawrence at halftime.

Union doing it's part to stay in the race as well with a 33-7 lead on Hilbert.

BomberJeff

It was not much of a contest in Buffalo.  Ithaca early and Ithaca often even with Chris Scully missing most of the game as the Bombers win 65-14.

Ithaca vs RPI almost certainly for the conference next week.

It is for the conference next week. No other team has fewer than two losses.

If RPI beats Ithaca but then loses to Union, RPI and Ithaca are tied with one loss each and RPI still wins the conference based on head-to-head. If they beat Union, they win it outright.

If Ithaca wins, they win the conference outright. (Their last game is a non-conference game; some team from Cortland or something?).

Also, is it just my imagination or is the league slate devoid of any decent games every other week? Today was just dreadful. Really hoping Rochester keeps improving and St Lawrence (and maybe Buffalo St!) turn things around.

I mean, compare it to lacrosse, where the league is pretty strong top to bottom. Good-to-great games every week, multiple times per week. Hoping LL football can get there.

It's essentially a playoff game for both teams.

Ithaca is currently between the 14-15 at large teams, but even with Cortland being so highly ranked, I'd have to think a loss to RPI would push them down too far to recover.

Hobart takes care of business against Rochester to keep alive a decent ECAC Playoff match up. I'm jealous of Ithaca and RPI playing a meaningful game next Saturday while Hobart prepares for Senior Day with Hilbert as the opponent.

Well, at least all of the seniors who maybe haven't had the opportunity to get a lot of snaps, will see significant playing time.

What's the top 25 NJAC boner prediction this week? Rowan botched a 2-pt conv to miss out on a walkoff W against CNU. Salisbury pummels Willy P. Montclair destroys TCNJ by 4. I think CNU sneaks into the Top 10. Rowan moves up to 14 and both Montclair and Salisbury slide into 23-25.

The Third Division

Rowan drops from 23 to 24 and Salisbury receives 1 vote.

I'm starting to do my research on the RPI-Ithaca game this weekend . I can't figure out whether I should consider the two lopsided losses by RPI to Utica and Brockport followed by a baby seal clubbing of Hobart. Having some insight on the Hobart game , I think that was a Hobart team that was totally unprepared after looking at the film of the two E8 opponents (having played them more successfully)  for an RPI team transformation. I know Hobart lost their QB before the RPI game, but the Hobart Defense was also a no show. On the other hand Hobart playing Ithaca at the Boz was a very competitive game, although I know we cannot score compare here. I really don't understand how RPI could suck so much against Utica and Brockport and then smack Hobart around in a laugher. I'm leaning RPI but it's in Ithaca and that could be the deciding factor....I'm still thinking.
As far as Hobart this weekend , the entire team is looking forward to Senior Day against Hilbert, and the class of 2030 recruits and the patient field hungry upperclassmen can smell the opportunity for stats for big portions of the game. I don't think you'll see them take it easy on the Hilbertonians.
