Yeah, that decision to go for it made no sense to me.  No one likes to punt for net 17 yards, but they were going to sell out for that sack and if they got it, it's a 25-30 yard swing in a game where every yard is mattering.

Never thought I'd be pulling for Ithaca, but here I am hoping IC pulls this game out!

Credit to RPI because their defensive line dominated Ithaca all day.

How this team let Brockport hang 45 on them I'll never know. Maybe Cortland is just that good. Which doesn't bode well for Cortaca

Congrats to RPI. Here's hoping they make some noise in the playoffs.

Congratulations to the Sliderulers for winning the 2026 Liberty League title. Good luck the rest of the way .

Yep, all the best to RPI.  You earned this one, enjoy next week and the playoffs.

Congratulations to RPI on their win today at Ithaca and their 2026 LL Championship. I will most certainly be rooting for you here on out... after next week of course.

I think this Engineer team has really improved as the season has gone on. I give them tons of credit. They deserve to be league champs.

Good luck to Cortland at Yankee Stadium. Man I'd love to see the Bombers beat the Red Dragons...but then I will be rooting for Cortland thereafter come tourney time.

Congrats to Union on their 27-0 win today over Rochester. We had our moments that's for sure, but I'll take it. Overall I think we are a pretty decent football team. A few less penalties here, a bit more consistent on offense there...and we could have maybe won it.

I was out juggling a kids' soccer game while watching the Ithaca broadcast. First off, kudos to the Ithaca broadcast team. No flosports BS. Just a solid, well done, high quality job. Love seeing it.

The game was the nail biter I knew it would be. I barely watched soccer. Both teams played their asses off. A few cheap shots by Ithaca with a no-call headshot on a sliding defenseless Balzarini that put him out for a bit. Then pulling a player into a punted ball which did get called. I respect the hustle. I was pissed there was no call on the QB hit, though. I thought it was obvious and blatant. But both teams were leaving it on the field as I would fully expect.

A few bounces in either direction and either team could've punched their ticket. But to RPIs credit, they hung on til the very last Hail Mary attempt that had me gnawing on my fingernails.

Sick game by Grayson Hunter today. The first RPI TD was a fully extended diving catch which was insane and kind of changed the trajectory of the game. Not sure if the second one was tipped or not, but was huge and ultimately sealed the deal.

Great season for Ithaca. I'd like to hope beating Cortland could give them a sniff, but odds are low. And huge congrats to my RPI boys. Amazing turnaround this year and let's hope we can keep it rolling!

Least favorite play in football. Call it every time.

Is this what happens when your school hires a young and possibly overly ambitious head coach?

Brandon Maguire is 34 and in in his first season as a head coach
Michael Toerper was 34 when he was in his first season as a head coach, at Ithaca
Dan Swanstrom was 35 when he was in his first season as a head coach, at Ithaca

You don't have to like the playcall, but I'm sure what Maguire's age has to do with anything.

Is there a reason they haven't hired anyone over 50?

Come on.  I'm not sure what your point is here.  If you spend 45 seconds talking to Brandon Maguire, you wouldn't possibly think he doesn't know ball.  There are a TON of really good head coaches in Division III right now and a whole lot of them are not 50.

In the last 20 years, only five Stagg Bowls were won by HCs over 50 (six if you want to count Leipold's last one where he was age 50 exactly).  I don't think the correlation you've invented here actually exists.

Sounds like someone's sugar daddy got passed up for the Ithaca job.

What are we even talking about here?
