I posted this on the Playoff board, but I wanted to post it here, too.

At the top of the home page of D3football.com there is a link to vote for Linfield's QB, Brett Elliott, for the Heisman trophy.

I think all D3 fans, especially BC fans, should vote for Elliott.  Why especially BC fans?  Because the people at D3football were all pulling for our man Jermaine Taylor to make the Packers then the Bucs squad.  We should give Elliott the same respect.

C'mon D3 fans, let's show these football experts that they can no longer ignore Division III.

GCOL & Trenches -

You guys keep up the good work!  The Quakers may not yet be where they want to be, but at least the other teams know we come to play and can put some big numbers on the board!  I've seen most of your games this year & I can also see the defense and special teams maturing.  Those 3 things spell future W's!!!  Now, if we can stop some of the turnovers  lol - you guys dodged a bullet with 7 against W&L.  I see good things ..... so Go Quakers!!!  Know that there are Alumni who care and really want to build a winning tradition.  We're behind you and I, for my part, am contributing some $ to help with the stadium, the lockers, the weight room and whatever is needed to get this program rolling.  You are doing great!

GO QUAKERS!

My plans have changed.  I have been "stood up" for the BC-W&L game by my whole family.  Sob, sob.  :(

I haven't decided if I'll go to the game by myself or not, but I don't want to drive all the way from Maryland to Lexington and back.

Is anyone leaving from the Bridgewater area on Saturday morning?

I noticed the "draught" versus "drought" thing too.  A, O - whatever!  lol  Anyway, the drought made me so thirsty I decided to have a draught and read ODAC online.  lol

Come on, SOMEONE vote for W&L (in the poll above).

I don't want this poll being printed out and posted in the W&L locker room on gameday.

You W&L people better vote for your own!  :D

Hey, Boys in the (Quaker) 'Hood, tell Chris Barnette congratulations on making d3football's Team of the Week!  Pretty nice numbers versus W&L and, of course, a clutch TD with 3 ticks left.  I also know Chris wasn't the only one that earned that win - good team effort on both sides of the ball!

Too late!  I bet it's already on the way to Wilson Field!  Oops!

...where the Gennies will be mortified to discover that none of their own fans thought enough of the team to vote for them in this poll.

this topic was brought up last year on the William & Mary boards about Lang Campbell and the ridiculous season he had last year... they contended that since he was having a record breaking season in I-AA (set the NCAA record for lowest interception/pass ratio) that he should be invited to the heismans ceremony. i contended that that's crazy because lang wouldn't have put up those same numbers against I-A competition (to which lang agreed w/ me). SO, as big of a d3 guy as i may be, unless elliott is utterly DOMINATING d3football (by dominating i mean unheard of numbers), then i would never vote him over vince young, reggie bush... etc. yeah everyone was pulling for Jermaine to make the packers squad, but that's MUCH MUCH different than voting him the player of the year on all levels.

Elliott went 4-4 as a starter at Utah (3-3 as a sophomore, 1-1 as a junior).

Then of course, he broke his wrist [story] and transferred to Linfield.

His stats in the 10 games he played at Utah:

159-for-280 passing for 1833 yards (57%), 12 TDs and 10 INTs (passer rating of 118.78)

Not bad for a sophomore/junior at a D-1A school.  Who knows what he would have done finishing his junior year, and even his senior year?  We saw what Alex Smith did in his replacement.

In looking up stuff on Brett Elliott, I ran across his junior year bio on the Utah site.

http://utahutes.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/elliott_brett00.html

It says he took his redshirt in 2000.  Then played on scout team his freshman year (2001), played in 8 games and started 6 his sophomore year (2002), then played/started in his first two as a junior before his injury (2003).

Question is, how did he redshirt in 2003 (I'm assuming that's what he did) when he redshirted in 2000?

Is there some D1-A rule where you can play in a couple games and still redshirt ???

you can only play in 3 of the first 5 games and have an injury that would keep you out most if not all of the rest of the season (cannot play after the 5th game though) to get a medical redshirt in I-A... we had a SS break his ankle in the nebraska (3rd) game--you may have seen the picture on collegehumor.com--and he will get a medical redshirt this year after redshirting as a freshman.

I think it can be a medical redshirt
