I was in Ashland for the game and were it not for the turnovers the game would indeed have been different!! I would NOT LIKE to be a DB in our film room today!! Secondary was suspect at BEST!! And YES that was an INT Casciola threw early!! Dunno where that came from!! All in all we have lots to work on going forward, especially for our game next week in Iowa!! One bright spot was Mitchell " THE HAMMER" Johnson running for 116 yds and our LB play. Casciola personally could have played A LOT better, also! It was a hot night in the COTU and there was a lot of substituting, but for us to give up 20 points in the 4th quarter in a game we should have put away early is a scary thought!! HSC is much improved, W&L IS ALWAYS TOUGH, and there's a Roanoke team out there to keep an eye on also!! Gonna be an interesting season!!

Woo hoo! The Tigers are receiving vote in this week's D3Football.com poll.  Coach Luvara and his staff have been doing tremendous work in recruiting.  Quite a change to see the Tigers getting physical and winning battles on the line of scrimmage.  I like the direction of this program.

Like you I'm pleased and encouraged by what we saw on Saturday, and I definitely hope that it is a sign of things to come. But we need to temper our expectations a little bit and remember that it was only one game, and (if you believe the comments over on the MAC board) against a team that may be looking at a less successful year than they're used to. Hopefully they can keep it up, but let's see how they do the next two weeks against W&J and Shenandoah.

Just saw the Tigers O-line made the D3 team of the week!I agree that seeing a more physical Tiger team ,especially in the trenches, is a good thing and a definite difference from the pass happy "outscore the other team" philosphy of the Marty Favret era. This will bode well for the ODAC as a conference, as well as the emergence of some other teams, especially newcomers Roanoke! I think all of the conference has their eyes on their performance every week. A more competitive ODAC is good for ALL OF US! We have a really tough two game stretch the next two weeks- traveling to Iowa to play Central Saturday then returning home to play an always tough nemesis of ours, W&L!! They always seem to have our number and play us close or beat us. At least that game is at home and I am lucky enough to have scored Presidents Box Passes for my bride and myself for that game thanks to a Football Alum friend whos hosting that week! GO JACKETS!! GO ODAC!!

Quote from: y_jack_lok on September 06, 2025, 10:52:34 PMI watched, off & on, the Central at Illinois Wesleyan game, since RMC plays at Central next Saturday. Central won 27-18. Illinois Wesleyan (5-5 last season) plays in the CCIW which is dominated by national champion North Central and always strong Wheaton. Central (8-2 last season) plays in the ARC which, for the past three years, has been led by Wartburg. I expected Central to win more easily. Perhaps IWU is better than I thought, or Central not quite as good as I expected. But, that doesn't mean anything in relation to next Saturday's game for RMC. It should be a good one.
Hey, Central College fan here popping over to welcome any RMC fans making the long trip to Iowa for Saturday's game. It is supposed to be 90, so plan for a hot one.

I imagine there might have been a little of both IWU being better and Central maybe not as good as expected. Central went into that game a bit blind as they have a new head coach and almost entirely new assistant coaching staff. It was hard to know what to expect from IWU. Central really dominated the stats the first half with the kick return all IWU had going for them the first half. I will say they made better adjustments as the game wore on and outplayed us the second half. Central graduated a big class last year and some key players.

RMC stats look scary good, but I don't know anything about Dickenson. I would say you have the definite edge Saturday, but I hope we can play to our strengths and give you a good game if not an upset. Safe travels.

^^^ Thanks for the welcome message. I'm not sure how many RMC fans might travel from Virginia, but I live in Saint Louis, MO so it's only five hours for me. Having said that, I no longer have the inclination to make that kind of trip. If I were 10 years younger, there's no doubt I'd be there. So, I'll be content to watch your live stream.

I think the RMC/Dickinson game was similar to the IWU/Central game -- a case of RMC not being quite as good as expected, while Dickinson being a bit better than expected.

Wishing both Central and RMC an injury free game on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see how RMC handles the travel, not something they are used to doing (first game in their history west of the Mississippi, if memory serves).

I'm not as young as I once was either and may have to watch the livestream myself. Some medications don't mix with the sun and it is supposed to be 93 now. Typically I would say the livestream is pretty good, but it is the first home game. If there are going to be issues it will be this week. Announcers are Trevor Castle and Central softball coach George Wares. They try to provide impartial coverage while talking about what they know about Central. Enjoy watching, but not too much! I think both teams and fans respect each other. It should be a good one.

On the flip side, I hope those commentators don't give W&J some of that extra motivation by suggesting that the Presidents are likely to start the season 0-2.  I want the Tigers to fly under the radar.

Too late, several already are predicting a W&J loss in Farmville.

Youre a smarta**! A little extra never hurts Pat!
And Yes!You do- Football is a game of motivation AND EMOTION, in addition to skill! Didn't you ever play?? If you did, did your coach ever do that?? Mine sure did....rubbing a little salt in a wound adds a little extra to the battle!

It would just be sad if a college football team needed our motivation.
