Saw a couple posts in reference to the absence of W and L posters in recent days, and I thought I'd at least chime in one more time.  First of all, is it possible to have at least 4 WR's on first team All-ODAC, because there are several deserving candidates.

Furthermore, what about Freshman of the Year.

My extremely biased vote goes to Stuart Sitterson of W and L. Want some stats....ok:

5 Rushing TD's
12 Rec's, and 270 yds rushing.

11.5 PR avg, on 27 attempts, and 1 TD
34.0 KR avg, on 12 attempts, and 2 TD's, long 98
116.0/game all purpose yds

oh, and yeah, he played defense too, with 2 pass break ups as a defensive back.

Ok, I'm done here. W and L is about to win its 7th game in a season for the first time since I was in diapers, and the program is on the rise. Great season, and see you guys next yr.

Sitterson was very good.  He reminded me a lot of the Sullivan kid you had a few years back.  I also loved the way he came up and fielded punts without regards to getting smacked.  He created probably 10 yrds. of filed position with every punt he fielded like that.  For my money he's the best punt returner in the OCAC for his courage if nothing else (our guy is exciting but this year he doesn't seem to want any part of getting hit for some reason).

Hey Forma,

We're here during the off season too.  Check back every now and then.  It's not nearly as difficult to read all the posts between January and July.

GO BC!

Wow,  that's not saying much..

I think GC needs to be careful. I think the last time they beat EH was about 4 years ago and they have had their number. You know some teams just have match up problems. Team A can smites team B which killed team C but team A gets knocked off by team C. Two of the EH and GC games I saw at EH were in the mud and snow and if a corner slips and falls bang you lose by 7. So if it is a dry field I like GC + 8 but history is not on their side.  OL Matthews of GC must block and block hard. Hopefully Vogelbach does not  transfer to a D1 AA or D2 school. Good luck GC-Q, smite the yellow helmets
It rained a little in Greensboro last night, but not enough to cause any problems.  Field at Armfield Stadium drains well and has not been used since the RMC game on Oct. 29.  It has been in the 70's & 80's all week, but has cooled today through the weekend.  Greensboro forecast for Saturday is a high of 67 with plenty of sun.  Should be in good shape for the E&H game.  Go Quakers!

I think every home game we've had this year we have scored in the first minute.  And alot of times we score twice in the first 3 or 4.  I dont see that changing against Catholic.  BC goes up by 21 early like always and then cruises.

In the W&L/BC, whenever Sitterson would line up at QB, it reminded me of what I do in EA Sports NCAA Football 2006 (for ps2) on 3rd-and-3 to get a "cheap" first down ... I put in my guy with 99 speed in at QB and put him in shotgun ... then just scramble to the sideline for a 1st.  Whenever Sitterson went in there, I knew the first down was in the bag ... the kid is fast!

my prediction for the BC-CUA game: 3.5+ hours long. catholic will have to throw the ball every single down, which they're not afraid to do. they'll blitz every down, many times w/ 8 or 9 in the box and get torched like they always do. inside run, outside run, option, pass, PAP, screen... name it. torched. hate to see it to happen to coach clark, great guy and coach... just still doesn't have the guys on D to slow us down.

nobody on w&l this year reminded me of sullivan. he and singh were very close athletically.

and the earlier conversation about notarfranchreomsrmshenrnm.......(cough)... someone stated that he was the scariest back in the odac. and yeah i pump up the 2001 bridgewater team a lot (there's a reason for that) but i don't know how you can find a scarier back in d3 than davon cruz was. 6'2, 215, solid as a rock AND ran a 4.5? there's a reason he got looks from the nfl. only reason he didn't make it was because his side-to-side moves rivaled mine... i should have taught him "the move"... sticky knows what i'm talkin about...

good luck to all this weekend. travel and play safe. and in my opinion, this may be the year that macon makes "THE Game," A game
"99% ain't good enough"

Glad to see all of the BC posters talking about putting up 50. Congratulations if you do, but I'll be happy after Saturday when Catholic gives BC a scare.

Forma...I don't think anybody is going to be freshman of the year but Vogelbach, but if it was a vote like kid has going for offensive player of the year, than Sitterson would get some votes. I think he would be a good pick for special teams player of the year, and he looks like he has the talent to have a solid career if he stays at W&L.

If there were a ballot for freshman of the year, who would be on it?
Off the top of my head I would include these guys.
Josh Vogelbach - GC
Josh Simpson - HSC
Jamie Edlow - HSC
Stuart Sitterson - W&L
Keith Ricca - CUA
Nick Olivero - CUA
Avatus Stone - CUA
Rodney Nelson - RMC

Quotethere's a reason he got looks from the nfl

Notar got looks from the NFL too. Neither of them made it.

Notar
3,856 yards     58 TDS

Cruz
3,986 yards     38 TDS

Stats are similar in yards and Notar crushes him in TDs. I guess I would pump up Davon too if he was a teammate, but the stats suggest that the argument is subjective.

Shoot, Sitterson's name has been on two of the 17 ballots submitted so far for ODAC Offensive POTY.  The kid will be a force over the next three years.

Keep in mind that GC, RMC, and CUA play (and start) a majority of their freshmen.

On GC's gameday roster (when they played BC), 24 of their 61 players were freshmen.  On their two-deep, 14 of the 44 were freshmen.

On RMC's gameday roster (when they played BC), 54 of their 88 players were freshmen.  On their two-deep, 24 of the 44 were freshmen.

On CUA's gameday roster (for their game w/ BC), 52 of their 95 players are freshman.  On their two-deep, 16 of the 44 are freshmen.

On the other hand, Bridgewater's gameday roster has only 3 of their 99 players being freshmen.  On our two-deep, 0 of the 44 are freshmen.

I'm saying this because a team like Bridgewater may have a freshman stud or two, but because we have so much depth at each position (especially with 30 seniors this year), our freshmen don't get to play.  Hampden-Sydney had their top two backs (Junes & Omick) get injured at some point ... and on the scene came Josh Simpson who has been awesome for them.  Bridgewater would have to lose four backs (Washington, Young, Langley, & Carter) before getting to a freshman.  Same for most positions.  I would say that (and these two guys are two of the three freshmen on our gameday roster) Rocket Gadsden (RB) and Arkady Kurihine (LB) are quite the athletes, but don't have the luxury of coming into a program where they play right away.  But I'm sure they won't complain once they get that ring on their finger!

Having said that ... I'd say production wise, Vogelbach should get FOY.  All-around athlete wise, Sitterson is clearly the most versitile.  I'm very interested in seeing Olivero and Stone (not to mention Dahl and Stutz) this weekend.  I already know what's going to happen on the offensive side of the ball for Catholic: Ricca to Bublavi ... I'll say 15 times.

I don't think anybody is going to argue that its easier to get FOY when your team is putting more of them on the field. I don't think FOY really has any correlation to how good a team performs, but most championship teams probably won't have to rely on them.

Kid,

You mention BC has Washington, Young, Langley, and Carter.  Don't forget about Spence.  He's a stud, too.

I knew there were five.  I forgot to mention Carter.

What a problem to have.  Too many stud RBs!
