Neon Deon! What's going on?  Just rolling right along.  We missed you at Stone Station in Bridgewater this past weekend.  Still thinking about coming to Winchester this weekend to catch the night game.

Also going to Farmville on Oct. 1st.  That will be the ODAC game of the year.  Should be a good time.....

You still doing all right?

skoaltrain

Looks like the "Team of The Week" is packed full of ODAC guys.  Washington from BC, Ricca and Rolander from HSC.  Some Kick a** stats.  Oct. 1st will be a "barn burner" for sure.  Don't forget your brass knuckles.

...The defense has got to blitz a lot more to be successful. If a defense is going to be built around speed then it must use its speed. You cant sit in cover 3 all game long if you are undersized up front... Coach Higginson has got to stop acting scared... When BC made its runs 2000-2003 it was because the defense blitzed at least 50% of the time and played straight man. Not the girly cover 3 zone... In order for BC to win the ODAC and some playoff games the defense has to have more aggressive play calling.

AMEN!!!!!!!!  Every game I'm more and more convinced that this new D-coordinator has no clue how to utilize the speed he has to our advantage.  If you've got a defense full of 4.5 guys YOU'VE GOT TO PUT PRESSURE ON THE OFFENSE TO REACT, NOT SIT BACK AND LET THEM DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.

Cases in point:

- Last year against Emory and Henry.  I know we won but the way we played set the stage for the W&J game.  The Wasps qb might as well have brought a lazy boy onto the field to sit in while he looked for his recievers in the 15 seconds we gave him.
- Last years W&J game.  Same deal as above.   Same big, slow type of qb with a good arm.  Hell, anybody can find recievers when you give them that kind of time.  I was hoarse from yelling "BLITZ!!!!" all game.  Defensive strategy cost us this game big time.
- McDaniel last week.  I can't put it any better than you already did, bmoreCC.

Ralph Robinson, are you out there???

Clark is a former Frank Beamer devensive coordinator.  It is time he steps in and does something before this stuff costs us another game (granted there are other reasons we lost Saturday, but there's no way with that talent on McDaniels offense that they should score 30+ points.  No way.)

like i've said before, i haven't been around the team much the past 2 years, but i doubt they're as fast as they were when jermaine GNel and kelly moore were playing

I agree the linebackers are not nearly as fast, even though the boy Campo has some wheels on him. But if he is trying to shed off 290lb lineman it negates the whole speed factor. I do know that Rico, Josh Knight, Mays, Herndon and the rest of the secondary are every bit as fast maybe even more skilled. No exscuse not to blitz.

Not that it really matters when, but I think this passive Defensive philosophy started after the 66-0 game at Mt. Union. We played man coverage, blitzed and obviously it didn't work. Now we don't play Mt Union's talent at reciever and o-line week-in, week-out. I also realize that Jermaine graduated after that game which may dictate a change but i haven't seen us play much man since the trip to Alliance. I agree it is time to start blitzing and spread our wings alittle and play some man in the secondary. I know there have been issues with our DB's picking up the ball in the secondary, but I think it is time to go for it!

I agree.  In that game everything went wrong, and it seems like ever since we've been gun-shy and passive on defense.  I'll say it again, we still have more speed (albeit not all 4.5 guys......) than most if not all teams we face.  If we sit back in a zone and let the offense dictate, than we are effectively negating our own advantage (our speed).  We need to make the other team beat us.  If they make plays under pressure, more power to them.  It's just been hard the last year to watch us get away from the defensive philosophy that helped us become good in the first place.

Reading the page 36 string it seems you BCers are scab picking yourself to death. A term used in the Army when they use "lessons learned" for the next fight. You were not playing/eating your usual meal the "ODAC". Those guys have won a few games too.  If BC history says anything you normally bounce back by eviserating the next team. If you got a conference loss going into the HSC game then you may snivel a little.  It's like Otter said to Flounder "hey you F&^%$# up". Start drinking heavily......

Its not scab picking so much as instituting a high standard at BC. If you notice the majority of the critical comments are from ex-BC players who know what being able to still play on the field and represent BC football means.

Agree 100% that McDaniel is a great team. But not a comeback from 19pts down at the half great team.

Hopefully this is the case again. No one is jumping off the wagon, just coaxing the driver to pour it on and don't let-up, EVER!

We always open the conference with HSC, soooo, unless we add another team to the ODAC or the schedule changes, that will never be the case. ;)

Yes I partake in that ritual prior to every game. I Love Football!  ;D
