Oneonta closes the gap on Foglia's second homer to right in the eighth and leaves bases loaded in the ninth.
Cortland ace lefty L. Misla endures rare shaky five innings (WP 9-2, 6h, 2r, 2er, 1bb, 9k, 89p). Four relievers follow, M. Nochowitz with the save. Cortland advance to championship conference tourney round after early Saturday well-played 2-1 decision over Oswego at sunny CSt Wallace Field.
And fourth seed Oneonta takes out both defending champ New Paltz 8-2 and then Oswego 3-1 in elimination contests Saturday. Oneonta draws Cortland on Sunday in title round beginning at 10 a.m. Should Oneonta prevail, another game starts at 1.

Pitching and defense mark Cortland/Oswego match, along with Nolan Smith long solo home run that was the game difference in the bottom of the fourth inning. Shot clears rightfield barrier. Smith's first roundtripper of the spring the final score.
    Meanwhile, Lakers' J. Hayner chucks seven strong innings (LP, 7h, 2r, 2er, 9k, 108p) before giving way to S. Dertinger (1inn, 1k, 14p). Four RDragons toe the rubber starting with lefty N. Jessen (WP, 5inn, 5h, 1r, 1er, 2k, 68p). Then it's freshman D. Collins (2.1inn, 4h, 1bb, 2k, 37p), vet T. Lynch (1.1inn, 3k) and lefty save-getter Z. Zarrilli notches game-ending groundout.
Dragons up 1-0 in the third. D. Tierney with leadoff single to center, bunted to second and picked up by frosh T. Elkins' first-pitch rbi base hit to left. T. Featherstone, D. Winchester, D. Rosenberg successive singles account for Oswego equalizer in the top of the fourth. But Smith on 1-2 count unloads fateful homer starting Cortland fourth.
Sharp glovework includes seventh inning-ending gems by both sides. Dragon second sacker Elkins makes diving snare with two Lakers aboard, and Oswego shortstop Rosenberg leaping grab strands Cortland pair. Only error of the game gives Oswego life opening the ninth. J. McLaughlin swipes second and third around two outs, but Dragon reliever Zarrilli quiets things.
Smith 2x4, r, bi; Elkins 1x4, bi. OSt's Featherstone 3x4, r; P. May 2x4; Winchester 2x3, bb. One walk in the game. Lakers strand nine, Corts 5. Cortland 2-7-1, Oswego 1-9-0.

Oneonta surprises both higher seeds New Paltz and Oswego. Had been 0-6 against the twosome during the regular campaign in which Oneonta begins league play 6-0, finishes 3-9 for fourth place.
In scoreless duel with New Paltz into the fourth, Oneonta posts three unearned runs on N. Jacoby home run off 3-1 serve. Two-run fifth via B. Duffy double comes off reliever. J. Dwyer, L. Hutter contribute ninth frame solo homers. Duffy 3x4, r, 3bi, hbp, 2 2bh; Jacoby 3bi, hr; J. Gilkey 2h, A. Foglia 2h. K. Roper WP (5.2inn, 6h, 2r, 2er, 1bb, 2k, 78p) with help from M. Oneonta 8-11-0, NP 2-8-3
    New Paltz 27-15
Oneonta kayoes Oswego behind lights-out J. Quigley relief pitching and timely hitting and defensive work. Oswego's T. Featherstone slugs leadoff fourth inning home run to open the scoring. Lakers have three hits, two walks in the inning. Just one run. Two runners thrown out stealing and Quigley enters to get third out. Covers 5.1 innings (WP 2h, 1bb, 5k, 65p). jdex, thanks again for the update. As of this morning, Cortland's NPI was #18. I did not know that #18 might earn a Regional over a couple of other schools, unless they failed to send paper work.

Please elaborate.

Cortland inconceivably beats Middlebury 4-3 Saturday night to gain berth opposite top seed Kean NJ in Sunday regional final round. RDragons thrash Husson ME 17-7 earlier Saturday in first elimination test while Middlebury drops 13-6 issue to Kean.
In Middlebury rematch, Corts get but two hits -- neither out of the infield, in atoning for Friday first round setback. Dragons virtually fly on the legs of C. Bonacci who scores three runs. Breaks eighth inning 3-3 tie. Is hit by pitch, swipes second and when L. Schartner's pop fly in front of the pitcher's mound drops untouched, slides safely across the plate. Bonacci pulls his team into that 3-3 tie in the sixth by beating a fielder's peg to home. Also part of a two-run first inning in which he's hit by pitch following T. Elkins' infield single. Error and Schartner sac fly produce scores.
    M. Nochowitz (6.2inn, 7h, 3r, 3er, 2bb, 5k, 91p) and N. Hanson (WP, 2.1inn, 2bb, 5k, 37p) combine to keep Middlebury in check for the most part. Panther O. Fox solo homer. And three Middlebury pitchers limit CSt bats. Dragon freshman Elkins extends hit streak to 25 games. Cortland 4-2-0, Middlebury 3-7-2.
Against Husson the Dragons score in six of eight innings. Knot matters in the second aided by L. Granger two-rbi single. Grab 7-3 lead in the fourth. L. Schartner grand slam part of five-run seventh. Veteran D. Beers (WP, 3.1inn, 2h, 6k, 56p) part of four Cortland hurlers who strike out 15 Eagles. Eleven Dragons hit safely, 10 with ribbies. Granger 4x5, 2r, 3bi. Cortland 17-19-0, Husson 7-7-1

Oswego for the second straight day against Concordia TX is beaten by walkoff home run! Tumbles 9-7 in second Saturday elimination game when Concordia's J. Townsend hits three-run homer to left with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Deja vu all over again. Lakers lost in same fashion to same team Friday.
Oswego had gotten back on winning track with Saturday morning 14-0 rout of host Bridgewater MA in elimination contest before Concordia bows 11-0 to region top seed Endicott MA. Concordia and Endicott clash Sunday.
    In beating Bridgewater, Lakers forge 10-0 bulge on dozen hits in four inning. Finishes with 16 safeties backing J. Sanders (WP 8-1, 8inn, 3h, 1bb, 6k, 101p). Three-run first inning includes T. Featherstone double to left-center for two scores. D. Moccio 3x5, 2r, 2bh; T. McGowan 2x4, 2r, 2bb, 2bh; Featherstone 2x3, r, 3bi, sf, 2bh; T. Harrington 1x3, 2r, 2bi, bb; P. May 2x3, 2bi, Oswego 14-16-3, Bridgies 0-3-3
Loss to Concordia comes after Oswego has 6-2 lead with four-run top of the sixth. Tom Harrington and T. Featherstone poke run-scoring hits. Texans get two runs in the seventh, two in the eighth and three in the deciding ninth. Errors hurt. Laker E. Sander 3x4, r, bi. Concordia 9-8-1, Oswego 7-12-6.
    Oswego ends 28-15.

Brockport eliminated 9-4 by Randolph Macon in Ashland VA.  GEagles looking good out of the gate. Z. Eldred rbi single and bases loaded walk provide first inning 2-0 lead. Tis shortlived. Host R-M with four runs in the second and two in the third. Region top seed Bport outhits foe 12-10 -- J. Story 4x4, 2r, bi, hbp, hr. E. Servellon LP (2inn, 5h, 6r, 6er, 2bb, 3k). R-M 9-10-0, Bport 4-12-2
    Brockport 36-5-2

RPI on Saturday wins twice in elimination games to advance to Sunday championship regional round against Baltimore's own Johns Hopkins. Engineers elude Farmingdale 5-4 and then kayo Rutgers-Camden 10-0 in an evening battle.
RPI early Saturday eerily down Farming. M. Chotiner base hit to left rbi walkoff winner. Just as RPI victimized Friday by Camden-Rutgers, first two Engineer batters in the ninth hit by pitch. Sac bunt and walk fill the bags setting the scene for Chotiner.
Engineers later blank Rutgers-Camden in 13 hit assault and strong M. Nelson pitching performance.
    Farmingdale ends 26-16
