Clarkson's A. Kuefner and J. Figliolino hit 10th inning's first two pitches for respective double and rbi single to lift Knights over Cortland 4-3. Tuesday non-leaguer played at RDragons Wallace diamond in sunny, 41 degree weather.
Knights scoreless ever since three-run first inning. Hit batter on game's opening pitch, two walks and B. Vardion (2bh, 2bi) double and C. Cartier rbi single put Cortland in early hole. Dragons tie with two-run third inning and one in the fifth. Groundouts and Clarkson throwing error account for runs.
Clarkson uses five young arms to check Cortland on six hits ... winning southpaw C. Barbulean toils for three no-hit innings on 41 pitches. Corts use three relievers after starter goes mere .2 innings. X. Payne (3.1inn, 44p), J. Yovino (LP 5inn, 78p), A. Knuutila (1inn) do well.
Knight leftfielder D. Harris' sliding inning-ending catch in the eighth saves perhaps a Cortland winning run. Dragons strand 10, Knights 11.
    Clarkson  4-9-1
    Cortland  3-6-0
Cortland 10-7-1 and Fri/Sat at New Paltz; Clarkson 9-6

Despite leaving 18 runners on base, Cortland turns back New Paltz 7-3. Sunday matinee played back at NP in improving weather. As in previous two duels, RDragons never trail after posting one run in top of the first inning. Build to 4-2 in the third when L. Karwowski plates pair on single to right. Teams exchange fourth frame scores. Cortland gets daylight in the eighth ....J. McFarren and N. Vendola with two-out rbi singles. T. Elkins starts (3.2inn), gives way to D1 veteran Wagner transfer C. Hayden (WP 4.1inn, 2h, 1bb, 2k, 43p). For some reason Corts call on ninth inning relief. Require T. Lynch four pitches to get final two outs with two aboard.
Dragons collect 13 hits, eight walks, four hit batters. L. Granger 3x4, 2r, 2bh, bb, hbp, sb; T. Gatchalian 4x6, 2bi; N. Smith 2x4, 2r, bi, bb, 2bh, sac; Karwowski 2x3, 3bi, hbp, sf. NP M. Sarni LP (3.1inn, 8h, 5r, rer, 2bb, 3k, 86p). Ex-Dragon T. Poggi sparks Hawks with 3x4, bi, 2 2bh, sb game.

Fast starts in both games push Cortland twice past visiting Canton in 21-2 and 11-7 verdicts in some good Saturday weather -- finally. Still, second game a bit hairy for RDragons.
First Game: First three Cortland batters single ahead of cleanup hitter N. Smith two-run double and RDragons off and running by 4-0 count. Ten run rule invoked in the seventh when Roos collect their only two hits. Most damage comes in 12-run fourth inning. Dragons post 12 runs. Send 17 to the plate. Five hit safely including A. Carlo double, one of his three two-baggers in the game. CSt pitcher R. McLaughlin tosses five innings of no-hit ball (4-1, 1bb, 6k, 58p). On the offense, Carlo 3x3, 2r, 5bi, bb, 3 2bh; T. McGowan 3x3; L. Granger 2x2, 3r, bi, bb; T. Elkins 1x2, 2r, 2bi, bb; N. Smith 1x3, 2r, 3bi, bb, 2bh; N. Plue hr, 3bi. Canton's E. Vazquez two-run homer off second of three Dragon relievers.
    Canton    2-2-2
    Cortland  21-16-1

Second Game: More early Cortland offense. L. Granger three-run homer part of five-run second inning. Frame later and Dragons up 7-0 and looking to coast. Canton with second thoughts and within 7-6 after three-run sixth and seventh innings. Corts respond with four in their seventh and survive behind third reliever X. Payne (1.2inn, h, k, 10p). Starter D. Collins WP (6inn, 9h, 3r, 3er, 7k, 75p). Corts outhit 16-12 but benefit from six walks, five hbp. J. McFarren 4-5, 3r, 3bi, 2 2bh, hr; Granger 2x4, r, 4bi, hbp; A. Carlo 2x4, 3r, hbp; T. Gatchalian 1x2, 2bb, hbp. Canton's Z. Baiani 3x5, 2r, 2bh, sb; C. McLean 3bi; E. Vasquez 3x5, 2 2bh.
    Canton     7-16-0

Cortland 9-0, 17-7-1 and visit Oswego for two key Tuesday games. Canton 0-6, 8-13

Fredonia pours over eight runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun Oneonta 14-13 in game one. Oneonta 15-4 second game eight inning reversal.
