Marywood??

My God, Danzig has now allowed Absolution to Marywood twice now since the infamous shot heard round the world on 11/25/03.
Looks like cooler heads as well as detente have finally returned after all these years.

Think the players were pushing for a more competitive schedule?

WRT to the D3hoops preseason poll, Scranton will be playing #1(UMW), 2(CNU), and 7(RMC) in nonconference games this season.

Catholic comes in with 7 votes. I wonder if Coach Danzig is adopting the Men's Lacrosse Model, take some lumps in non-conference play with hardens you for the conference schedule.

Great Day to be a Royal

Look at you guys praising a schedule! Never thought I'd see the day!

All jokes aside, Never thought I'd see the day with multiple impressive non-conf games, outside of playing a glorified MAC schedule in the non-conf

The aforementioned games will be the closest the Royals have ever come to playing in a National Championship game in 25 years under current management.
Too bad they're in the first weeks of the season & not the last.
However, the mere fact that this level of competition was even scheduled is a step in the right direction that has been long overdue.
Goodbye Sarah Lawrence...hello Mary Washington!  :o  ;D

We have Scranton basketball this week !!! 5:30 PM ( LOL) at the Long Center!

I can't tell from the way the Scranton SID crew put the schedule up, but who is the 4th. team in this tournament?
Yep...a 5:30 start on a Friday night...sounds like Danzig is looking to pull in at least 100 fans.  :(

So it's Scranton's tournament but Danzig gives Marywood (4th. team) vs. Mary Washington the 7:30 game while he takes the opener at 5:30??
Must be that extra 2 hours of scouting after his game will make the difference when he plays MW on Sat. ::)

My thought exactly. Must be a great recruiting tool, come play at scranton, you'll be done by 730 and can hit the bars early.

Just guessing that he's giving the visiting opponent 2 1/2 more hours  to travel there.

I've seen lots of schools take the early game on the first night/day of a tournament to give their guys two extra hours of recovery.

Great Day to be a Royal

At the end of the day, he has his reasons, whether it be travel, recovery, scouting for game two. Who cares?  530 vs 730 game isn't bringing in any more students at one time or the other. Classes are well over by both hours on a Friday. Hopefully there is some semblance of student excitement being it is the start of the season, and the prospect of the defending NCAA champs rolling into town.

That is my point, nothing says exciting like a 530 tip of time. /s

I agree it doesn't make a difference the ship on fan engagement has sailed, now it is the principal of it all.
