Whenever Fischer decided to leave I thought it would be for a head coaching position at like the Missouri Valley or something. I didn't have an assistant at Nebraska on the board.

I think this move just goes to show that MANY AD's at the D1 level ate hesitant to hire someone as their Head Coach who lacks D1 experience on their resume. I wouldn't be shocked to see Fischer use the assistant job as a way of gaining that D1 experience and then taking over at a D1 mid-major a short time later.

UW-Madison hasn't had a winning record in a long time. He may be lining that up.  Would make a lot of sense.  If so, Nebraska is the perfect place for him right now.

I've avoided posting to wait and see if I would wake up one day and the news wouldn't be true. Immeasurable loss for UW-Oshkosh. This was the ultimate "I-don't-want-this-to-happen-but-when-is-this-going-to-happen" story over the past few years. Best of luck to Coach Fischer in Lincoln (though I can't wear red). From getting a tour of the University when I was taking taking for a HS softball game at the softball complex to the water cooler shower on the Kolf floor and everything in between, it was a heck of a ride. Now to fill those shoes on the sidelines. I have a few guesses. Does Kalshi offer action on this?
