As a program, are you trying to save money by scheduling D3 teams that won't require a home and home series or are you trying to better prepare yourself for the NCAA tournament?

Surely, scheduling a couple of D3 teams isn't going to challenge you for the post season, unless you're playing NYU or Scranton.

You have the entire conference play to better prepare yourself.  That's more than enough time and games to see where you stand.  Conference Standing don't matter unless not all teams make the conference tournament.  Only 1 week matters.
