Bear, I agree with your assessment of Division III  liberal Arts schools. Example Ithaca's roster, not one of their players is from the State of New York.  Its like a Division I roster.  All out of state players.  Go figure!  At least their assistant coach is a Potsdam Alumni.

I know this is a week or so late, but whatever...

If you spent five minutes talking to the coaching staffs at Ithaca, you'd realize how absurd your implication is. Frankly, if there's one criticism I have of Ithaca's coaching staffs as a whole it's that they use the "We can't get the players in because of the cost of attendance/lack of financial aid" as a crutch way too often. A majority of Ithaca students come from outside of New York State, and you're attempting to claim something is fishy based on a sample of 14 of them?

It's that time of year when we can choose a player to play in the NABC All Star Game that is taking place in Salem, Va. this year. Last year East Region player Ralph Temgoua from St. Lawrence was voted onto the team. This year one of the players that can be voted onto the team is SUNYAC Player of the Year, forward Hayden Ward from Oswego State. I urge all the visitors to the SUNYAC board to go to the front page of D3hoops and vote for Hayden. He needs our support as he's way behind the current leaders.

Here's the link:  http://d3hoops.com/landing/index?t=1363029315978

The voting only lasts for 2 days so don't wait to cast your vote. Do it now.

Magicman...Pat... Is Ward the only player eigible to represent the SUNYAC because he is the player of the year? Or can another 'Yac player also go???  I'm getting mixed messages from these posts?

Pat Coleman

There is definitely not a restriction of that kind.  Ward getting voted on the team would not exclude Simmons from being one of the two East Region selections.

D3hoops All American Teams were released Thursday evening. The East Region had their share of award winners.

John DiBartolomeo of Rochester was named the D3hoops Player of the Year and a member of the 1st Team Not really a surprise as he had a tremendous season. Was glad to see that his final game against Ithaca didn't cost him this award.

Hayden Ward from Oswego State was named to the 2nd Team.

Sean Rossi from Ithaca was also named to the 2nd Team.

Stefan Thompson from Hobart was named to the Honorable Mention list.

Congratulation to all four players who ended their college careers with an outstanding year.

Too many good players and never enough spots to mention all the guys that had excellent seasons.

Well another Hoops season has come to a close. Congrats to the Lord Jeffs, whom the Cards played to nearly a standstill in the second half of the thier 2nd round playoff game (35-39). In fact no team that faced Amherst, could do better, vs. Amherst, than the Cards did. Couple that with the fact that Cortland was actually leading quarterfinalist Middlebury, with less than 3 mins left in their 2nd round game, and I believe you have the makings of  a much stronger appreciation of 'Yac hoops for years to come. I also want to commend Ithaca who defeated  U of Rochester and then lost to Middlebury by 1, for also adding more respect for the Empire State brand of hoops. Ditto for Morrisville !!!

5 NYS schools (incl U of R), and all of them made it to the 2nd round. No other state can boast those numbers. Not Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio etc..... NONE!  I'm gonna miss these geniune chats from the fellas (magicman, the bear, ethlered, jdex, dcahill, ...etc etc) who posted, win or lose (unlike the Football boards where if a team loses many of their fans are either silent or just rag on the winner). The SUNYAC hoops boards have class. And I glad to be a part of them. :)

Till October... ;)

Thanks Dave.... looks like its not meant for us to meet! was hoping it would happen at Championship game or at the Oswego-Cortland game... you should try and get to the Wendys Classic next year! I will miss watching Hoopsville on Thursdays and Sundays. talk to you soon

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

Well... I was at Oswego  ;) and it was rather busy at the championship game  :( ... as for the Wendy's Classic, I can try, but it actually happens at a tough part of the cross-over season for football and basketball for me... so who knows.
