IT IS TOO OUR SORROW THAT SOFTBALL DIII HAS BEEN RELEGATED TO AN "ALSO DIVISION" ON THIS WEB SITE. It appears this is in the "who cares category".  Softball is the fastest, most exciting sport on the board.........bar none!!

Comment folks !  Let's hear it for your teams.  The conference tournaments are coming up!  What is ever happening to Linfield....to Molly......to Allison?  Who is coming to the national finals?

Luther seems to be walking away from the other teams in the IIAC with an 11-1 margin, 2 of whom are in the top 10.  Come on Coe, Central and Simpson........say something!

Really....is Linfield all that good?

Glad there's interest. :) I have noticed that we have more traffic on softball scores on D3sports.com than any other of the spring sports out there. (Other than baseball, which has its own site.)

Benedictine (NAthCon) is riding a 15-game winning streak going into play today.

Also:  8 softball regional sites are as follows:

Alma, MI;
Pella, IA;  (Central)
Amherst
Newport News, VA:  (CNU)
Willmantic, CT
Bloomington, IL (IL Wes)
Tyler-TX;   (UT-Tyler)
Union, NJ

Benedictine sweeps Edgewood  9-1 and 8-3  (first game 5 innings)  Adcox got both wins.

IL Eagles have clinched a NAthCon post-season berth--CUW, Aurora and Lakeland are also in good shape to get in. There'll be a dogfight for the last 2 spots between Dominican, Marian and CUC.

Western dropped 2 to RIC, swept Dartmouth in conference action and in between split a pair with Worcester state to fall to 21-11 overall and 3-5 in the LEC.  The sweep of Dartmouth was huge considering we have yet to play Eastern yet so that's more than likely 2 more losses, so at least the sweep kept us on life support for an NCAA bid.  Splitting with Eastern on Tuesday will be huge.

NAthCon update:  CUW, Aurora, Lakeland and Marian have clinched conf. tournament berths. If Dominican wins 2 more games, the Stars get the last spot.  CUC and Alverno both need to win out and hope CUW sweeps Dominican.

Salisbury takes another CAC Tournament title, beating Frostburg State, 9-1  (5 innings).

ASC Tournament:   Louisiana College and UT-Tyler are the last 2 left. Louisiana College needs 2 wins to take the title.

UPDATE:  ASC Final just in:  UT-Tyler 1, Louisiana College 0.  Patriots are ASC Tournament Champs!

LUTHER (REGIONAL RANK #1, NATIONAL RANK #4) won the Iowa Conference today with two victories over Cornell.  Luther is 15-1 in the Iowa Conference and will host the IIAC tournament this weekend.

Other ranked IIAC teams (regional and national) include Central, Simpson and Coe.

Yes, they are.  Probably one of the most dynamic offenses in the country (obvious statement since they are #3 right now.)

WLCALUM83

Dominican swept Alverno yesterday to get the last conference playoff spot in the NAthCon.  (Seeing as the tournament is scheduled to be on the Inferno's home field, CUW appears to be the closest to having home-field advantage. Benedictine's been hot--winning 20 of last 21 in-conference games).

Western concludes the regular season with a 27-13 record and 7-7 LEC record.  If you ask me, not good enough to make the NCAA tournament, especially since we went 1-6 against the top 4 teams in the league (0-2 each against Eastern, RIC & Keene who finished 1-3) and than 1-1 against Plymouth who tied us for 4th.  We'll have to make a run to the LEC championship which includes getting past Eastern a top 3 team on their home field.  Here's how the season ended up:
Tuesday got swept by Eastern 4-1 and 3-1, than finished the season with a 6 game winning streak with sweeps of Trinity, Boston & USM.  We opened the LEC tournament Thursday, when I have the pairings I'll post them here.

NCF

North Central split with Augie, dropping game one 3-1 and coming back to take game two, 4-1. They end their season today against the University of Chicago.

Looks like North Central got in game one of their DH with U of Chicago but unfortunately lost,  2-1  in 11 innings. Game two was cancelled.
