All the teams have their schedules posted except for CMU. Highlights include:

Brandeis — Yale (treated as an exhibition for the Judges) and 2025 NCAA teams Western New England and Clark. Brandeis has played Clark 55 times but not since 2012.

Case and Rochester both play Bowdoin and Middlebury in the UAA NESCAC challenge.

Emory plays D2 Augusta and has challenging games with Hampton Sydney and Christopher Newport.

NYU plays D2 Assumption, takes a West Coast trip to play Cal Lutheran and George Fox and plays local power St Joseph Connecticut.

Chicago and Wash U both play Illinois Wesleyan.

Pre season rankings are out. Emory — 3, Wash U — 5, Chicago - 11.  I think Wash U may be a bit high and Chicago a bit low.

No other teams are ranked or receiving votes.  No surprise there.  Still with all these teams having so many newcomers it will be interesting to see how the season plays out.

It could because one team has more appearances in the Top 25 than almost any other program and the other is a perennial 10-15 win team.  Prior to last season, Chicago had not made the tournament since 2007-2008.

There always seems to be a voter inertia with the Top 25.  Wisconsin Lutheran received votes after graduated 4-5 seniors and graduate students who averaged a crazy high percentage of the minutes.

Literally a voter out of 25 and you cited one team. It's been way worse in the past.

It was said above that it was no surprise that no one else got any votes besides the three that got in and I would disagree for this very reason. I was actually very surprised NYU went 0-for-25 on ballots.

If I had to choose a fourth, I think I'd vote for Brandeis before anyone else, but, as they say, that's why we play the games!

Thanks Pat, the Top 25 looks great, appreciate the work of everyone involved.

Brandeis will be an easy No. 4 in the UAA preseason poll and could be very good with a veteran core of 4-6th year players and three transfers.

The UChicago vs. WashU game over the weekend was notable, mostly because I've never seen both teams ranked so highly while playing each other (WashU is used to it but this is new territory for the Maroons). The fact UChicago won in such dominating fashion is an eye opener. Regan is putting himself into national POTY territory if this run continues.

Weather update--

Due to the major winter storm expected to travel through the country this weekend, Carnegie Mellon has determined that it is too dangerous for their basketball teams to fly to Atlanta on Saturday for UAA games. It is either that or the scheduled flights on Saturday from the Rochester and Buffalo, NY areas to Atlanta have already been cancelled.  The Tartans will play tonight's UAA doubleheader at Rochester and then immediately return to Pittsburgh.  In addition, the CWRU Spartans will also be playing tonight's UAA doubleheader at Emory as scheduled.-  This Sunday's scheduled Carnegie Mellon at Emory doubleheader has been rescheduled to a Wednesday afternoon Feb. 25 doubleheader at the WoodPEC in Atlanta (the final week of the season) with the women playing at 1 PM ET and the men playing at 3 PM ET.

Further weather update--

In order to accommodate weather conditions, tonight's Carnegie Mellon at Rochester UAA doubleheader has been moved up in the starting times.  The men's game at the Louis Alexander Palestra will tip at 4 PM ET this afternoon with the women's game to follow at 6 PM ET.

Thanks.   I still read what others post, and I am looking forward to seeing former Brandeis players Sam Adusei (now at Carnegie Mellon) and Ethan Edwards (now at CWRU) return to the Auerbach Arena next weekend as leaders on other UAA teams.

I feel that the Brandeis student newspaper rarely covers Brandeis teams these days (not even the club basketball scene-- Sam Adusei's younger brother Lawrence Adusei plays on the Brandeis club basketball team), with one of the only contributions that the Justice is giving this year is that they are lending sports editor Zeke Bloom to be a color commentator and an occasional play-by-play person on the Brandeis home team streams.

As far as attending the Brandeis home UAA games, I went to the first 3 doubleheaders, and will be going next week for the Carnegie Mellon/CWRU home weekend in Waltham, MA, but my old friend Gerry will be on a cruise ship going through the Panama Canal when UChicago and Wash U make their trip east to Brandeis and NYU in late February.   I cannot afford 3 20 mile Uber/Lyft rides between my apartment and Brandeis.   Fortunately, my bout with the flu came in mid December, so even though I had a miserable week suffering from the flu, I recovered.

One of the few benefits of having all of the UAA games available on the FloCollege library is that I can rewatch games if either I am asleep, or a very interesting or controversial moment appeared in the basketball games so I can go over it and try to find out what exactly happened.    For example, the big game on the west coast Wednesday night between CMS and Redlands.   I watched it on delay yesterday morning, making sure not to find out in advance what happened so that I could experience the game as though it was live.  As it applies to the UAA tonight, I will watch the Rochester men this afternoon since it is tipping early vs Carnegie Mellon, then I will switch to the Emory vs CWRU game for the first half, and then put the Brandeis at UChicago men's game on my bedroom TV while keeping the Emory vs CWRU game on the computer.   I will just have to make sure that come July 1st, I have my $108 available for the annual payment to the service for year number 2.

Seems that if Chicago holds serve at home this weekend, the Maroons will be all alone in first place by a half of a game due to the weather postponement to Wednesday, February 25, of Sunday's Emory vs Carnegie Mellon doubleheader.

On another note--

Looking at the current D3Datacast unofficial NPI rankings, it is very interesting to see my alma mater's basketball teams currently among the top 64 ranked teams in the NPI in both men's and women's basketball, but the Brandeis men have more pathways in the 1,000 computer simulations to get an at-large bid than the Brandeis women do.

Just some tidbits to pass the time away.
