2010 regional winners?
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:29:35 am »
Anyone want to take a shot at predicting the winners of each of the eight regionals?

Ditto except for Marietta and St Thomas in Mid-East and Mid-West Regionals respectively, and of course ECSU in NE ;).

Championship game(s) :, JHU over Chapman, (Chapman needing to win 2)

Is it just me or does the Central region not seem that tough at all when compared to the other regions?

Central is a bit weaker than the others. I thought that St. Thomas or Stevens Point would be sent there.

Being the homer that I am, I'm going even one seed lower than BP in the Central.  IWU made a believer of me in the CCIW tourney.  IF the Titans are still alive on Friday (our #1 and #2 pitchers may not be as good as most tourney teams), I like our #3 thru #5 pitchers against almost anyone.  In the conference tourney, they threw 26.2 of the 27 innings in three victories.  And while our hitting is not gonna scare anyone most days, they can occasionally explode, as NCC will ruefully testify (16 runs in each of 2 of the last 3 games we played them).

I'll take all the 6, 7 or 8 seeds. If one of them makes it I will look like a genius! ;D Besides; I am a homer and have a vested interest! ;)

This is normal. The central is a weaker region.

The regionals ranked in difficulty:

1. Mideast
2. West
3. Midwest
4. Mid-Atlantic
5. New England
6. South
7. New York
8. Central

    Avg Win%    Avg SOS
C      0.72             0.51
MA    0.75             0.54
ME    0.75             0.53
MW   0.76             0.53
NE    0.76             0.52
NY    0.72             0.53
S      0.66             0.52
W     0.81             0.51

These numbers reflect how good a region is top to bottom. So for example, Lagrange and Bridgewater really bring down the South. These numbers would rank the regions like this:

1. W
2. MW
3. NE
4. MA
5. ME
6. NY
7. C
8. S

Another good reason Mississippi should have been sent to South.
