Would be interesting to know how many guys transferred (other than the above mentioned Wolfenbarger). Even in smaller levels you see guys leave when a coach is canned or takes a new job.

The new tracker Etchglow has put together says they lost 33 total including graduation. As the bugs are worked out this is going to be a fun tool to have.

I fixed the logic so it picked up John Wolfenbarger.  Looks like the old logic wasn't liking the different hometowns.  If yall see any other stuff that is wrong let me know.  I'm trying to find a better way then downloading ALL the division rosters to track transfers and am failing at the moment...

I'm guessing you are tracking new transfers for 2026,  not total transfers (ie, a second year at guy at new school)?

That's correct, eventually I'll extend the data model back further than one year.  Basically if the new roster lists them as a transfer, if I can find their former school in my giant list of most universities/colleges, or I can name match them with at least one other identifying feature such as high school, home town, etc...

It still can't tell the difference between the bethels but I haven't felt like finding a way to have it differentiate that...

sewanee hires a HC with prior d3 coaching experience but still falls below rhodes who they beat 28-6 last year

Nearly half their roster (42 of 93) are freshmen.  That's a larger class than last season (25 of 80) so the new guy did a good job of recruiting, but freshmen rarely contribute their first season.  And Freitag was OC at Monmouth - primarily coaching OL until last season, when he added QBs - so the jury is certainly out on how well he'll do as a HC.  Certainly is used to working with successful teams, but you have to have talent to be successful. 

Sewanee have a new DC and OC (also from Monmouth - representing promotions from their former roles) and one of the three assistants is new (from Averett).  That's a lot of new puzzle pieces to assemble heading into the season.

It's why I think the coaches have things right in the pre-season ranking when comes to our team.  New coaching staff that's pretty green with a hefty number of transfers out is a bit of a dog's breakfast.  Three out of our first four are home games (Bethany, @Brevard, NC Wesleyan, and Southwestern) and that might help mitigate the ramp-up blues.  (see... the preseason hope remains  ). Flip side... we have to go to Maryville, Danville, San Antonio, and Rome with Rhodes squeezed in-between Trinity and Berry at the end of the season.

After attending tonight's scrimmage, my guess would be that Hondo Franklin will remain Trinity's starting QB.  Both he and Welker Horn had their moments, but it seemed that Hondo did better in the 11-on-11 segment that concluded the scrimmage. 

There were some beautiful passes that were plain dropped, so work to be done.  Two freshmen QBs also saw signficant time tonight:  6'1" Davis Roup (6A Katy Cinco Ranch) and 6'5" Lane Ranly (2A Agua Dulce). 

The score during the final 11-on-11 portion was 17-7 Trinity, including a 49-yard FG.  Roup and Ranly alternated at signal caller for the final TD (the whole offense basically swapped out each play).  Jason Love was impactful at RB.   Besides holding the Mountaineers to a single score in the 11-on-11 segment, the Trinity defense forced three or four interceptions during the 6-on-6 (or maybe 7-on-7) segment. 

Here's hoping it will not be in the triple digits at 7:30pm in two weeks as it was tonight.

What Ron said.  I have to note that there were at least 300 people there for the scrimmage. I credit that to the proximity of Schreiner to Trinity (about an hour drive apart) and to enthusiasm for both programs. It bodes very well for Schreiner as they get the program up on its feet. They didn't look like a new program.

Saw on X Belhaven scrimmaged Rhodes in Jackson. Just photos, no report.

Not sure who Maryville is scrimmaging. BSC was the traditional partner back in the day, Berry a few times when not on the schedule. I think the last few years some NAIA schools have been the target. Lindsey Wilson maybe?
