I do enjoy the different styles of announcing you get on broadcasts.

That stadium brings back happy thoughts.  I still have indelible memories of the only time I saw a game there nearly two decades ago, afterwards known as the "Mississippi Miracle" or "Major Disaster" depending on what side you were sitting.  It seems the state has reclaimed the former to describe improvements to its public school performance!

Millsaps got out to a huge lead, Belhaven closed to within 30-20 with a couple of late TDs but then fumbled trying to score a third and the Majors get an easy rushing TD a couple plays later to make it 36-20.

For being a one man operation, it was good. I sure as hell couldn't do with a partner much less solo.

He was not brought up to speed that these teams do not mingle at the 50 postgame, though.  ;D

The Third Division

was there today - no words to describe how happy millsaps was to winning this one - especially not by a fluke bad snap at the end of the game that was 2 years ago.

William Jorden, the Louisiana judge who ruled in favor of a few dozen plaintiffs wanting a fifth year of NCAA D1 eligibility (including the LSU returnees who signed NFL contracts) is a Millsaps grad ('03) who according to search results was a four-year letterman on the Majors' football team.

I was wondering when they'd write an article.  Little slow on the uptake this year.  Thanks for the link!

Thanks, was able to access without a sub.  So nice to have in-depth reporting from a local daily.

I was out of free reads so I paid the $14/month online subscription.  The Daily Times does great work covering local sports, so worth very much worth it for a couple of months.  The Saturday morning previews are always fun to go around town to grab a print when in for a game.

Sounds like I better hope for low scoring affairs until the offensive line matures a little.

Man, our secondary can use some help.
Not helping out a young offense.

19-0 Heidelberg 2:00 to go in the half

MCScots2013

MC scores making it 19-7 at the half. Scots to receive the kickoff.

Jaxon Dabrowksi, true freshman, earns the start. He has wheels. Reminds me of Evan Pittenger from a dozen years ago.

Maryville gets the ball to start the second half and marches 85 yards while converting three 4th downs.

19-14 Heidelberg with 4:54 to go in the 3Q

MCScots2013

25-14 Heidelberg. 7 to go in the game. Just took it over on 4th down at the MC 22. Ouch.

I feel your pain as on the Mountain we're down 27-3 at the half against Bethany College.   The expected long season looks to be starting for us as we haven't seen much offense in the first half.

The rest of the league schedule doesn't start until this evening.

What do I see now?  Bethany 27 Sewanee 24 14:22 to play.  Must have been one hell of a halftime talk!
