Utterly no clue.  There are about 40 events that take place during a 2.5 day period that starts today but I don't suppose that's all that unusual for colleges these days.  There's nothing I could find online that explains why.

Our alumni office at Sewanee tried going the "Alumni Weekend" route a few years ago to justify segregating alumni-focused activities and student-focused activities around Homecoming.  Mixing alumni, students, and alcohol was causing problems in the insular social environment on the Mountain.   We are back to calling it Homecoming but the alumni office has events scheduled almost to the minute with clear separation of alumni vs. student events.  I live near Sewanee so rarely do the formal stuff but this year is my 40th so shall be interesting to go through it all.

This year's Alumni Weekend at Trinity happens during the school's fall break, so I guess there's no worries about excessive student involvement ;D but seriously with the exception of the athletic events the only people invited are (in most cases paid) alumni attendees.

45th here, and they made the mistake of putting me on the corresponding committee.  Me who knew very few people outside of the CS department because I was (and am) massively introverted in person and a townie living at home, totally uninvolved in social events, and who started working a professional job part-time at the end of my third semester that turned into full-time my senior year.

Time to shower and go talk with a lot of people I've never met in person.  Sounds like fun.

Quote from: D3 Poster on Yesterday at 09:15:44 AMMy guess, someone found the word 'Homecoming' offensive  :D
My Latin teacher could propose the question whether "Alumni" is misogynistic.  ;)    ;D

Heard today that Centre just received an anonymous gift of $225M.

Not the first half I expected, but I'll take it. Hopefully that drive to end the half for Trinity isn't the one that gets them going...

Trinity blew it. I'm pissed on the performance

Defense was stout. Did their job. End of story.

Offense laid an egg, which was my worry going into the game.

Tigers basically gave them the game and tempo due to special team blunders. Botched punt return which lead to Maryville's first score. Then a Missed extra point, then blocked FG, etc...not to throw out the 3-4 interceptions Trinity threw (1 being a pick 6), all which lead to the inevitable loss.

Maryville was by far the most disappointing and disrespectful team I've seen in years come to San Antonio with their post game theatrics. Godspeed you Scotts... you don't want to see Trinity in a different setting with the starting QB and lack of errors

Just saying. It's over on to the next one
