Odd results as Rhodes posted 5-5 and 6-4 seasons in 2022 and 2023 and then things went way wrong with 3-7, 1-9, and 0-5 (so far) since that time.   One wonders what happened in 2024.

Rhodes posted this morning that Matt Ellis will be interim HC after Duncan stepped down, and will begin a national search at season's end.  AC Jalen Womble, will also "take on an expanded role in the program's day-to-day operations."  Both are Rhodes alumni.

Story on senior Trinity WR Alejandro Tavarez in today's student paper discusses the challenges he faced early on in his career, starting with a freshman year that saw not only an early season-ending injury but a fall semester with a 2.5 GPA.  Things have gotten better on and off the field since (the average is up to 3.5 which ain't easy to to given that start) and with the injury year he could come back next season, though the article says he's undecided on that.

Anyone watching this Berry-Centre game?

Cowboy2

Centre came to play early. Up 13-0 at Berry

MCScots2013

Yeah, Berry caught the trap game bug it seems.

MCScots2013

Berry has 3:37 to score twice. Centre has played one helluva game today.

No surprises on the rest of this week's schedule so far as both Trinity and Millsaps are up big on us and Southwestern.    Hendrix is at Rhodes which will be interesting to see with the coaching changes this week at Rhodes... expect it to be another year where Sewanee and Rhodes will be battling next week to see who ends up at the bottom of the table.

Maryville now in the driver's seat for conference champ.

They do control their destiny as far as the conference's auto bid goes.  If Trinity wins out they almost certainly get an at-large bid and would probably be seeded higher than Maryville since seeds are based solely on NPI.

Today's Centre result should certainly ensure practice this week in San Antonio is focused.

Sewanee maintained their focus and played their hearts out, especially early, but even after the result was written on the scoreboard they continued executing.  Your RB Barton Mixon (17 carries/133 yards) was the real deal and made our defenders look, well, not the way the like they like to look.

EDIT:  the 76 points scored by Trinity are the most since at least 1990.  The second most scored in that time was 74 when Trinity defeated Principia 74-0 on October 29, 1994, the first year they qualified for the NCAA D3 playoffs (losing in the first round to W&J 28-0).

I'll take a 6-4 championship run after the gauntlet of a schedule we've had this year!

I think our late bye week is going to help us the last 2 weeks to finish it out.

Interim HC Matt Ellis is 1-0 as the Lynx upset Hendrix for their first win of the season, 24-17.

I agree about Barton.  I'm hoping that focus translates into being more competitive in '27 season
