With a couple weeks to go, looking like Region X will get 4 or possibly 5 teams in this year. ETBU looks like the only possible host team as of now. What are everyone else's thoughts?

Ralph Turner

I can imagine ETBU hosting Rhodes, Belhaven & SCAC winner.

The NPI is up and on the home page of D3baseball.

DickWhitman

The SCIAC champ would also be another potential for an ETBU regional. It looks like there will be a heavy concentration of hosts in a few regions.

Ralph Turner

I hope the SCIAC breaks well into the Top 16 so they can host.

DickWhitman

I'm sure the NCAA is hoping the same thing. CMS dropped to 43, so they have a long way to go. A sweep against CLU and sweeping the SCIAC might be enough to bump them to the top 20. PP could possibly have the same type of run against Oxy and the SCIAC.

An LA regional certainly makes things easier for Region X teams.

DickWhitman

Looks like things are starting to become a little more predictable. CMS won the SCIAC title for the first time in forever and PP took care of business. Both should be in the NCAA. If ETBU wins the ASC they should jump high enough to host. Whithworth, SCIAC winner, ETBU, and SCAC winner will likely be in Marshall. CMS or PP will travel to either R1, R5, or R7. Redlands could also sneak in by winning the SCIAC tourney. It will be tough for them with CMS having the "home field" advantage.

Ralph Turner

ETBU is one win away from the ASC.
Friday's storms moved the SCAC Championship to Monday.

Do you think ETBU will be ranked high enough to host a regional?

I think that ETBU hosts a regional for the reason of "geographic proximity".

They may be high enough in the eyes of the committee to save a bunch of plane flights.

If ETBU can leap-frog Belhaven, then send "Pool C" Belhaven (whom I guess would lose the Pool A to Piedmont), the SCAC champ, and a Pool A Trinity to Marshall.

DickWhitman

Makes sense. Then PP, CMS, Whitworth get spread out to the other regionals in 1, 5, and 7?

Ralph Turner

If Belhaven hosts then West Coast teams might help fill the bracket.

Belhaven 17
Rhodes 18
ETBU 20 is quite the log jam.

Rhodes can come to Marshall & vice versa.

IMHO Trinity needs to take out Rhodes for ETBU's sake.

Another thing to consider is which of the potential hosts did not request hosting.

Bellhaven should get a nice bump if they hold on to beat Maryville in today's game. Could definitely be a landing spot for a couple R10 teams.

Ralph Turner

If they are gonna fly R10 teams, please disperse them to opposite parts of the brackets.

As a R10 guy, it was fun seeing UT Tyler and Texas Lutheran in the Finals back in 2018.
