Messiah and likely Calvin will be challenging. It must have been cool in 1999 when SLU won it all, I can understand the frustration with the results recently.

We are living vicariously through the Statesmen with former SLU great Rob Brandell on the sidelines as the assistant coach.

It's the only thing we have going for us.
Brandell was a great addition to the coaching staff. Wish we could slip him into the game today:)

Great season by Hobart for sure.

No shame losing in OT to Messiah.

These boys and especially seniors should be really really proud.
As a league we are going to have to improve and really get whoever we send to the dance ready to make a real run.

Back in the day, SLU went to the tournament after dog fights with Hobart/RPI/Clarkson each and every year. Plattsburgh was always a difficult game as well.

The NESCAC boys have been on fire for 2 decades because they beat each other up so much during the season, when its time to dance, the intensity is not as high as a league match.

Thats how you win a title.

Again, congrats to Hobart on a great year. These boys have a great future of many NCAA tournaments to come and the seniors can leave knowing the program is in a better position than they found it.

A disappointing game result, but Messiah had some very skilled and well conditioned athletes. Good luck to them in the tournament. We lose about six Seniors that will be hard to replace, but I'm sure the coaching staff has some new talent coming in. On to Hockey for tonight to see the 3 time D3 champs take on Skidmore

The one thing I was worried about with this year's Hobart season was the same thing I worried about 2 years ago in that they scored a good amount of wonder goals that just did not seem very sustainable come tournament time. I still thought they were talented and skillful enough to make a deep run, however. Ultimately a tremendous season that they should all be proud of. They lose a decent amount of seniors but there's still a pretty talented core coming back that includes a lot of scoring.

A fair assessment. Hobart struggled to score at times during the season, which is reflected in the 5 ties, but our goalie and defense were special. There is always next year.
