Quote from: SKUD on August 19, 2025, 02:20:43 PMI disagree as this conference is subpar in both men's lax and soccer and it never preps them for what comes in the tournament.  They could make 20+ years and it would not be a significant accomplishment.

I beg to differ. Probably right as not great prep for the soccer tourn, but, though only a part of this league since 2017 they have showed up and not been blown out. In the last two years lost to Amherst both times (one in pks and the other in OT) in second round (Amherst winner and finalist these years). In 2022, lost in OT to U of Chi in the NCAA Finals. Had to beat a lot of good teams to get there. In 2021, lost in second round to Tufts in pks (11-10). In 2019, was upset in conf. tourn. In 2018, lost to 2nd ranked Tufts in the second round 1-0 (Tufts won the NCAAs this year). In 2017, lost in sweet 16 to Messiah 3-2 (NCAA Championship winner).

I am also not particularly impressed by the conf. teams, but, imo, that is a pretty impressive run for Stevens so far. There goal every year is to win their conf and go to the NCAAs. On top they have done pretty well in NCAAs which 95% of D3 teams would probably want to trade places.

Misericordia women's soccer is very good. Del Val football is pretty good. Not sure about other sports.  Stevens used to be in the Empire 8 conference and prior to that the Skyline conference, both worse than the MAC Freedom.  Maybe they should join the NESCAC  ;)

With Trinity being relegated to Division IV, there is an opening ...

I just took a closer look at Hopkins roster. I had thought 3 or more of the guys listed as grad transfers had left the program.

My prediction for a bumpy season just got much more positive. Many of the younger guys who were "super" subs in the rotation are going to slot in very well as starters.

Did they post the 2025 roster somewhere?  I still see the 2024 roster on their website.

No, I just went and checked again and you're right. My bad.

I've noticed in the past that sometimes rosters could be hidden or up for a short while. They are definitely training so I expect it'll be up shortly.

Many schools wait until the media day photos are ready and the bios are done and post the rosters right before the season starts.  Either that or they are old fashioned and wait until the season is about to start because in the old days rosters weren't set until they announced who among the walk-ons had made the team.

In either case, I've been periodically checking the Hopkins roster because I was curious whether they would still have some grad transfers even without Covid years.

Me too. Women's only has 4 grads this year with 3 from other programs. High of 9 in 2022. This year the women have 34 on the roster.

I resemble that remark. :) I've been checking daily too but no 2025 roster yet.

Notre Dame of Maryland Univ one of the few 5 word college names along with St. Mary's. Interesting that they play in the same conference. Hmmm. Not too many programs like that. Might be a pod in that Simple Coach, haha.

Baltimore's NDMU (neighbors Loyola) is in its 3rd year of D3 soccer with 18 of 28 players are int'l according to roster. Should be interesting and basically a D1 roster without the talent?? But really new team so we will see.  FYI, NDMU was a women's college for 125 yrs till three years ago and now has about women/men ration 78 to 22%. Based on enrollment on line this figures out to be about 151 men. So approx. 19% of the men at NMDU or 1 in 5 play on the soccer team. Side note- NDMU actually has more grad students than undergrad (approx 60/40). Also mostly a commuter college.

The other side note on NDMU is that it used to be named the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. I'll let our intrepid readers form the acronym out of that word salad.

Unfortunate for a historically all-women's college.

Hahaha, did probably lower its name status cutting out a word out of its name. 6 might have been a record.
