In one of the podcasts with SC, I mentioned Freshman Julius Rigo at Gettysburg as someone to keep in eye on. He scored 124 goals in HS and then scored in his first 4 college games. He now has 5g and 2a through 5 games after being shutout by LVC.

Good weekend for the Cent. Conf. Either wins or ties. Wash College beat Mary Wash 3-2 is a very good game with Tony Speno having a hat trick.

F&M took the Boot over Etown. 1-0 with a nice goal and a freshman keeper who had some very good saves.

Christopher Newport, who didn't win any of their last 10 games of the season in 2024 (and missed out on the NCAA tournament) are now 4-0-2 with wins against Redlands & Hampden-Sydney, as well as a 0-0 tie with #8 Dickinson.

Very nice goal by Leb Valley against JHU. Hop seemed to be ball watching a bit. Hop has had some chances, but nothing yet. Now 2-0, LVC is lucky that the goal is not put in the ground on that goal. Hop def. is suffering.  Not marking again.  JHU had a 4 on 3 advantage, yet LVC scored.

F&M is probably playing better than York, but nothing to show. F&M's first touch is just bad in most cases. IMO F&M is definitely playing better than their first 4.

If you just tuned into Messiah Etown game, the white objects are marshmallows. Very nice.

Done 1-1 F&M v York. F&M definitely outplayed them imo. Just couldn't get the 2nd goal. Both goals were good and York scored first in 2nd. F&M didn't panic and got the tying goal with about 9 min left. So probably the best game yet and going into Cent. Conf play against the Muhls on Saturday.

Ravens Super Bowl game came to "historic" Homewood Field. 9pm lights out with 1:54 left and Hop down 2-1. Announcer then said this was a first in historic Homewood Field.

Under 7.5.2 of the NCAA rules for soccer, isn't a suspended game considered complete if at least 70 minutes have been played?

Yeah, automatic timer. Just got to find that one guy and restart the lights. Lights always take a bunch of time to be relit. So they'll finish.

Looks like they are waiting for them to warm-up.  It's kind of nice ambience light right now :-)

Done, Ravens, I mean LVC hold on 2-1. 18 min delay. LVC looked good. Hop got their goal off a PK.

If you want to see, check it out now!  Hop takes down its games pretty quickly or at least they did in the past

I've said for many years that Haverford and Swat being perennially below average is just weird to me. Beautiful campuses, decent facilities* and incredible academic standing.

Back in my day, it was always Hop, Fords and Swat battling it out for the conference title. Slightly different mix of teams (F&M not in the conf at that time, for example) but it just seems like they have the resources and history to be competitive in a sport like soccer.

Haveford's current coach, Kevin Brenner, had stints at Elmira and Eastern before joining Haverford as interim coach in March of 2023. If you glance at how he fared with Elmira in 2019 (9 wins which is the 4th best season in school history) and then his work at Eastern (10-5-2), you'll note that Brenner may just be a quietly competent coach waiting for an opportunity just as Hopkins92 has mentioned...

When Brenner was at the helm of the Eastern Eagles in 2021, he had them ranked is highly at #17 in the National Poll with a 7-1-2 record before things cooled down.

F&M was in the Middle Atlantic Conference through 1992/93 when the school, and Hopkins too, left to form the Centennial Conference for all sports (Centennial was just for football previously).

Good summary of the teams on the 30th anniv of the Cent. Conf. in 2023 https://youtu.be/-eyGCCJoiLI?si=ZUspCFGyU9h5YgSR  The 30th anniv. page is also good https://centennial.org/sports/2023/4/22/30th-Anniversary-30th-Anniversary.aspx?path=cenconf

F&M's Dan Wagner is the conference leader with 265 wins and averaging 11.5 wins and 4.4 loses over 23 seasons. That has been a pretty good body of work over a sustained period.

Swat v JHU. Great game, JHU got two early off nice goals.

First Swat goal was self inflicted. Not sure what Hop was trying to do. Maybe 3rd goal like this this season. That was rough. The 2nd Swat goal was really nice.

Got to close it out with a lead.
