QuoteOur mistake, listening to the coach. ;D  ;D
After playing at club you should know whose interest the coach represents!

Absolutely true and sad which we later learned when he turned on us for looking after our family first. He said a lot of disappointing things and expected us to sink our family in to crazy financial uncertainty.

Well, well, well...we are officially 1 day into the unofficial off-season for D3 NCAA programs. Any news, updates, or coaching vacancies to speak of?

Here are a few we already knew about:

University of Redlands

- Ralph Perez retired after the 2025 season after 19 years at Redlands and 37 years total in college soccer and a record of 442 wins, 217 losses, and 77 ties.

- I would not be surprised if Cody Carlson, who has been lead assistant since 2018, got the job if he wants it.  He's a Redlands men's soccer alum and he also is head coach at Redlands FC, a USL2 team.

University of Dallas

- David Hoffman resigned in July 2025 season after 22 years

- Chase Reynolds was hired as interim HC right before the season.  Maybe he could get the job after taking it under difficult circumstances, but the team went 0-16-1 during his short tenure, so I would expect they will keep looking.

I'm thinking that Goucher College may need a coach considering that the long-time AD and coach stepped back in after Mike Singleton left before the season. He had coached the team 14 or 15 years before. So I am thinking that might be an opening.

Which brings up - What Maryland/PA school that will need a coach and be a good fit for Mike Singleton??

At the end of October, Concordia-Moorhead Head Coach John Hedin announced he was stepping down at the end of the season.

QuoteJon Hedin announced that he is stepping down as head coach of the men's soccer program after the completion of the 2025 season.

"This program is a special place, and I have been very blessed to lead it for the past four seasons," Hedin said. "I am eager to see it grow as it enters the next chapter in its history."

Hedin is in his fourth season as head coach of the Cobbers and 12th overall with the program. He was an assistant coach from the 2014 through the 2017 seasons and then again from 2019-2021 when he was hired as the interim head coach for the 2022 season.

Hedin was hired as the program's full-time coach in the winter of 2023.

"We thank Jon for his leadership and the dedication he has shown to our student-athletes and men's soccer program," Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson said. "We also thank him for the ways he embodied the values of Concordia College and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career."

Hedin was the eighth head coach in the history of the Cobber men's soccer program.

Hedin, who is originally from Andover, Minn., played for Concordia from 2007-10.

Before becoming as assistant at Concordia, Hedin was a prominent figure in the Fargo-Moorhead club soccer scene where he had been a head coach for the Tri-City organization since his college playing days.

Bergeson said that a search for the next men's soccer head coach will begin immediately.

As was discussed at the time, his departure was weird. We don't really know what happened, but the guy can clearly coach.  Just an odd situation and I'll leave it there. (I don't want to speculate, having ZERO insight into what happened.)

Baruch's Dima Kamenshchik Retires as Soccer Coach, Will Continue Equipment & Intramural Duties in Athletics

QuoteBaruch College today announced that Dima Kamenshchik has retired as Head Coach of the Men's Soccer program, concluding an exceptional 22-season coaching tenure that helped establish the Bearcats as one of the most consistently competitive teams in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).

Kamenshchik will continue to serve the College in his role as Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment and Intramurals, but will step away from coaching after a distinguished career that featured 177 victories and eight CUNYAC Championships, each followed by an appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Kamenshchik spent the past eight years (2018–2025) as Head Coach after previously serving 14 seasons (2004–2017) as Associate Head Coach. Deeply involved in every facet of the program for more than two decades, he first joined the team as a student-athlete, playing two seasons for the Bearcats (2002 to 2003).

In recent years, he led the program to multiple conference titles and NCAA berths, including the 2023 CUNYAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance—marking the team's third NCAA berth in his first five seasons in charge. He was named 2022 CUNYAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Bearcats to a 10–6 record and a perfect 7–0 mark in conference play.

Well as a Tufts fan I sure hope Kyle Dezotell doesn't return to his native Vermont for the head coach position at University of Vermont. Rob Dow is officially leaving $200k/yr at UVM to head "south" to Penn State.

Although DIII coaches have definitely moved to DI schools before (e.g., Shapiro to Harvard), I think Vermont might be in a different class after winning the National Championship.

Plus, Vermont promoted Dow when he was hired and the school's statement about Dow departing suggests they may do the same with Brad Cole, who has been an assistant at Portland and Cornell before becoming Associate Head Coach at Vermont the year before they won the title

Quote"We're fortunate to have someone of Brad Cole's ability to step in as our interim head coach effective immediately," stated Schulman. "A native Vermonter and UVM Soccer alum, Brad has accumulated experience at top programs throughout the country and has played an instrumental role in every aspect of our program since taking over as Associate Head Coach three years ago. Brad will be considered for the permanent head coaching position, and we look forward to making an announcement about the status of the search in the coming days."

Interim Gettysburg Head Men's Soccer Coach, Dan Malone, Tabbed for the Permanent Job
QuoteAfter spending the 2025 season as interim head coach, Dan Malone has been tabbed with the permanent role, announced by Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Troy Dell '95 on Friday.

Malone guided the Bullets to the No. 2 seed in the Centennial Conference (CC) in his first year at the helm and hosted a conference semifinal game.

"It was clear as we went through this process after the season that Dan has our program in a great position and should continue to lead our program into the future," Dell said. "His work on the field this past season spoke for itself. I am excited for him to continue to work with our athletes and continue to build our men's soccer program."

He mentored seven players to all-conference honors in 2025 – the most for Gettysburg in a single season since 1999. Four of those seven players were freshmen on the squad with three going on to claim all-region honors. The defense posted nine shutouts in 19 games last season while the offense was second in the conference, averaging 1.79 goals per game.

Malone joined the Bullets staff prior to the 2024 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with eight years of experience coaching at the Division III level.

My son is on the staff at UVM and I'm speaking only for myself but I hope they make the interim coach, Brad Cole, the coach and not Kyle Dezotell. No shade to Dezotell at all, I just think Brad Cole is better prepared to take the reins at UVM given his background. That being said, I think Kyle Dezotell has done a terrific job after taking over from Josh Shapiro at Tufts. I seem to recall a few people doubting his resume when he got the Tufts job, but I think he's put that argument to bed.
