Another game worth watching.  Southwestern and LeTourneau are tied 0-0 in the 52nd minute.  It's not like LeTourneau's bunkering and just frustrating Southwestern.  It's pretty even.  LeTourneau has 2 shots on goal to Southwestern's 1 and both teams have 4 shots total.

Landon Guenther finally breaks through for Southwestern in the 69th minute.

UMHB broke open a tight 1-1 game in the late stages of the second half, scoring in the 72nd, 78th, and 85th minutes to run away with the game.  Credit to HP for hanging in there as long as they did, but eventually UMHB's superior talent won out.

It wasn't easy, but Southwestern once again came out victorious in a 1-0 game for the third time in the last four games.  They need to get their offensive threats - Cooper Pero coming up from the back on set plays and Grey Richards and maybe Danny Wasserman in the run of play - consistent service or Southwestern is going to have trouble against stronger offensive teams.

A spirited game with a decent crowd on an amazing-looking evening, but unfortunately unable to view 2 late goals from the Oles, as the (lagging, sagging) Luther game feed just plain stopped!

Quote from: pioneer27 on September 23, 2026, 11:03:31 AMBig game in the north tonight, St Olaf travels to Luther in a regional match up.  Last the year the teams played twice with a regular season draw and St Olaf getting the best of Luther 1-0 in the round of 32.

Should finally be a great night in Decorah.  Weather in this part of the country has not been very cooperative this fall with excessive rain and storms the last couple weeks.

Kind of a wild game going on in San Antonio right now

HALF:  UC Santa Cruz 2 - Trinity 1

Trinity looks like a mess defensively, with UCSC beating them down the middle.  First goal UCSC scored was because the Trinity left back came rushing out from the left side with a slide tackle to try to stop a break and UCSC got the ball out to its left wing who centered to two open players on the right since the Trinity LB had vacated his position and no one rushed back to help out, allowing the UCSC player to gather the cross and volley it home.  Second UCSC goal came on another breakaway where the pass split the Trinity centerbacks and the striker was able to beat both of them for a left footed shot.  Trinity had opened the scoring early on one of their few nice passing sequences of the half that gave them a shot inside the box.

You know things aren't right when Trinity brought in 8-9 subs - basically a line change of every outfield player but a center back I think - in their first subs.

More wildness at the start of the Trinity - Santa Cruz game early in the 2nd half with goals by each side scored less than 3 minutes apart in the 61st and 63rd minutes.

UC Santa Cruz 3 - Trinity 2 (65th minute)

Feed was not working well at all, typically Luther has a good stream.  Went back and watched the last twenty minutes after the fact.  Luther scored first goal of game from a set piece.  Olaf scored on three corner kicks.  They dominated the set pieces.  Not a ton of scoring opps in open play across the night.

This was definitely a Friday Night Lights game down in Texas!

FINAL:  Trinity 3 - UC Santa Cruz 3

Trinity comes back from a 3-1 deficit to secure the tie, scoring the tying goal with about 19 minutes left in the game.

UC Santa Cruz is a quality team when it's healthy, but they are very inconsistent, so I wouldn't call this a good result for Trinity at home.  Nevertheless, it's a nice confidence boost to come back from that deficit as they head toward conference play.

FINAL:  Colorado College 1 - Nebraska Wesleyan 0

Not a particularly convincing performance for Colorado College, but they got a win on the road in Lincoln, Nebraska with a tie-breaking goal in the 73rd minute, so they'll take it

FINAL: Ramapo 2 - St. Thomas 1

This is probably one of the more random non-conference road trips I've seen.  St. Thomas traveled to New Jersey to play Ramapo and Kean.  I guess it's NYC-adjacent and they do have one player on the roster who is originally from Queens in Tony Castro, although he went to HS in Texas, but I can't see this as trip that St. Thomas would take for recruiting or alumni relations purposes.  It just seems like they decided to take the kids to Jersey.  Ramapo treated them with a traditional Jersey welcome and St. Thomas gave it back in spades, committing 18 fouls.  All the goals were scored in a 10 minute period right after halftime.

Couple of interesting early results in the SCIAC

Caltech 1 - Pomona-Pitzer 0

Dean Yao scored in the 64th minute for Caltech to break a 0-0 tie and that was all the Beavers needed.  Pomona is in danger of falling out of the SCIAC conference tournament race early in the season as they only have one win thus far against two losses and a tie in what should have been the easier part of their schedule.  They still have to play Redlands, Chapman, and La Verne twice each.  Caltech also only has one win (assuming the Azusa Pacific win doesn't count for conference tournament purposes, but I could be wrong on that), but they've already played Chapman and Redlands once and the Pomona game was one they needed to win to at least gain a foothold over the bottom of the conference.

La Verne 2 - Cal Lutheran 2

La Verne continues their inconsistent play.  After tying Oxy, beating Chapman, and losing narrowly to Redlands, they fritter away a 2-0 lead early in the second half to allow Cal Lu to tie the game up with goals in the 55th and 78th minutes.  Cal Lutheran remains winless in the SCIAC, but at least they get their first point in four games.

FINAL:  Saint John's 2 - Colorado College 0

Saint John's wins a neutral site game at Creighton College in Lincoln, NE with two second half goals.  If anyone doubted them after their loss to Gustavus Adolphus, they've come back to crush North Central (MN) 11-1 and now beat #22 ranked Colorado College.  I think Colorado College was showing signs of weakness after a narrow 1-0 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan, but this is still a statement game for the Johnnies.

Mary Hardin-Baylor 0 - Schreiner 0 (Half)

Schreiner has stymied UMHB all half, but to maintain it for the second half, they'll have to do it a man down because they lost a player in the 40th minute to a straight red card.
