With 10 minutes left in the first half, the stats are pretty even: 5-5 shots, 3-3 shots on goal, and 1-1 on corners.  Still 2-0 with CWRU in the lead.

In the Case Western vs Hope game, the score shows CWRU up 2-0, but the game feels a little more even then that.

Hope scores a goal with 21 minutes left to bring the score CWRU 2 - Hope 1.  Goal scored by #28 Alexis Suptela.

However, that would not be enough because Case Western, despite giving up a goal played better in the second half.

CWRU outshot Hope 9-3 in the second half and 5-1 shots on goal.

Now, Case Western needs to get ready for tomorrow's game against Calvin at 4:30.

Case Western maybe bit off a little more than they could chew playing back to back games and having to face Calvin on day two in Michagan.

Calvin out shot them today 17-4 and 9-4 shots on goal and a whopping 17-3 on corners!  With all that advantage in the stats, Calvin is able to come away with just a one goal advantage and secure a home win 2-1 over CWRU.

This may be the result that will allow Calvin to get back into the top 25.

Today starts the annual "busy weekend" for the UAA.  All the teams in the UAA will play two conference games this weekend.  The first round will be today (Friday) and the second round will be on Sunday.

Each year the conference has a weekend where they do this with four teams playing at home for both games and the other four teams traveling all weekend.  This year the teams that get to stay home are all the teams in the conference that begin with the letter "C" and Wash U .. so Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, Chicago, and Wash U will remain at home all weekend. While Brandeis, Emory, NYU, and Rochester have to travel.

Friday (today) (all times EDT):
Emory (#13 NPI, #21 USC) at Chicago (#11 NPI, #6 USC) at 4pm
Brandeis (#78 NPI, NR USC) at Case Western (#43 NPI, NR USC) at 7:30pm
NYU (#33 NPI, #22 USC) at Carnegie Mellon (#14 NPI, #9 USC) at 7:30pm
  Rochester (#34 NPI, #23 USC) at Wash U (#2 NPI, #1 USC) at 8:30pm

Sunday:
NYU at Case Western at 1:30pm
Brandeis at Carnegie Mellon at 1:30pm
Emory at Wash U at 2:30pm
  Rochester at Chicago at 2:30pm

I don't know if anyone that might read this would know the answer but I'll throw it out there:

With this weekends games in the UAA, does the conference follow the NCAA rule on travel .. meaning if the team has to travel more than 500 miles they fly but if less than 500 miles they bus?  Is it left up to the schools to decide what they want to do or does the conference set the guideline on travel arrangements within the conference?

This year it looks like Rochester drew the short straw with their games.  It is more than 800 miles from Rochester University to Wash U in St Louis.  Then a little over 300 miles north to Chicago, and finally about 600 miles to get back to Rochester.  Also throw in a time zone change with the travel and that is quite a weekend for the soccer team!  I wonder if they fly (I assume they would be flying) to St Louis Friday morning for the evening game or the day before.  That has got to be really challenging with trying to keep up with studies and school requirements all while playing soccer against the toughest teams in the nation in D3!

The schools decide whether to fly or drive.

Rochester does have a relatively tough go, but I believe they fly to St. Louis via Chicago or Atlanta on Thursday to make everything easier.

This is arguably easier than some drives that other schools must make.
