I wasn't able to watch the game but the stats do not look pretty for W&L. Looks pretty one sided and VA Wes couldn't finish. Pretty much the reverse of the W&L/R-MC game.

Sometimes you need to win those off games, and W&L did. But going to a Lynchburg squad that just dismantled H-SC is going to be a challenge.

Making the finals is probably enough to see W&L into the NCAAs, I think Lynchburg locked down their bid regardless of the ODAC final.

It wasn't one sided :-). Most of Va Wes's shots were not on target, and happened after W&L was up 3-1. W&L led the entire game.

That said we do struggle a bit once we get to the final third.

Like I said, I didn't watch it. But W&L had 3 shots on goal, one of them the PK, and all 3 went in. Only 6 shots total. That is pretty putrid. Va Wes had 22 shots, 8 on goal. W&L scored on the PK in the 27th minute, held the lead until the 52nd minute, took the lead back in the 70th minute for good. 27+18 means half the game was played in a tie. I wouldn't say W&L led the entire game.

I do understand the concept of parking the bus with a lead. Especially the 2 goal lead that only lasted 2 minutes, but those stats don't indicate W&L should have been comfortable doing so. Now the stats don't show TOP and it's possible W&L controlled the clock, and I do see that about 10 of Va Wes's shots came after the score went 3-2, so they pushed hard at the end as they needed to. But sitting back and being peppered is a dangerous place to be with a 1 goal lead in what could easily have been a season-ending elimination game for both teams.

Sadly W&L does not offer a shot chart, so maybe they were all terrible and non-threatening shots.

Regardless, the Generals did what they needed and on to the ODAC Finals again and likely an NCAA birth. A good result for a season that started out pretty rough, with a whole new staff, and still a lot to play for. I said from the beginning they had the talent and that has certainly proven itself out!

Go Generals. Overall it's been a very good Fall. The men's soccer team is doing typically well, the women's soccer and volleyball teams are having a season for the ages, Field Hockey is doing well in a conference with 2 very strong national teams, women's cross country won the ODAC, and the men weren't far behind. The football team is having a very typical year with 2 tough games to go. A chance of finishing 2nd or 3rd in conference and going to a Chesapeake Bowl again is on the table.

Overall, the Generals are up to their usual ODAC leading ways, just what I like to see!

W&L Lynchburg game was really good.  I thought W&L played well.

I was stunned Lynchburg did not get the PK call in the second half. However, I think even being tied W&L would have won.

The player who made the tackle was very confident he got the ball.

I get it, but it was from behind and the player went down and imo he was not flopping.

ODAC signed a deal with Flo Sports starting this fall

QuoteFloSports and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) have entered into an exclusive five-year media rights agreement that will begin in the fall of 2025, bringing the conference's 14 member institutions to the FloCollege platform. Through the agreement, FloSports will provide a global platform to live stream over 1,500 regular-season and postseason events annually. The partnership further reinforces FloSports commitment to Division III athletics - adding an eighth conference to the portfolio - bringing the total to 18 conferences across all NCAA levels in the Fall.

The ODAC, headquartered in Forest, Virginia, stands as the second-largest multi-sport NCAA Division III conference in the country. It has gained national attention hosting NCAA Division III championships in baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, and women's volleyball.

The ODAC's full-time member of 14 schools includes Averett University, Bridgewater College, Eastern Mennonite University, Guilford College, Hampden-Sydney College, Hollins University, University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, Randolph-Macon College, Roanoke College, Shenandoah University, Sweet Briar College, Virginia Wesleyan University, and Washington and Lee University. The ODAC also features five associate members in five sports.

"This agreement reflects a thoughtful next step for the ODAC in how we tell the stories of our outstanding student-athletes," said ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. "As technology and fan engagement habits evolve, we have a responsibility to adapt while staying true to our mission. FloSports provides a reliable and forward-looking platform that helps us deliver a consistent, quality experience for our teams and fans. Most importantly, this partnership enables us to highlight the achievements of our athletic programs across our wide sports offering - at a level they deserve and with the reach they have earned."

Very much a shame. Look of good games every year in soccer, but 9 or 10 ODAC teams are not very good and have not been for a long, long time. It was working pretty well before with all the schools broadcasting their games free.  I will not purchasing (W&L grad) and I am guessing that, other than parents, will not be buying the games.

Yep. I'm out too. I'll still go to the games in Atlanta this year to support the players, but I'm so hopping mad at W&L about this. I hope they were an "against" vote and just got out-voted in the conference, but we'll never know. I put some comments to the athletic department already on Facebook and elsewhere. I don't expect it will change much, but at least I voiced my displeasure with this short-term thinking, money-grabbing, idiocy.

I recall reading somewhere that it's ~$20k per year to the school. While that will certainly help many D3 schools with limited budgets, unless it ends up hurting their donations/endowments, I doubt they'll think twice about it.

W&L can not claim limited budget with their students paying over 90k this year and probably over 100k in 2 or 3 years. Yeah, I know not all pay that, but solid middle class parents with some assets are expected. That was our case when our son got accepted in 2018. However, it was only high 60's low 70's then, hahaha.  Another reason why W&L alumni like us will continue to not donate.

I think many of the ODAC teams are struggling like other schools. For example, Sweet Briar almost closed its doors a few years ago and several other schools are in similar situations. So 20k might help just a little, but not much.
