I just got an email this morning from FloSports telling me that when my annual subscription is up for renewal for the 2026-27 academic year on July 2, they wanted to raise my price for next year from $107.88 for the year that I paid last July (covering the 2025-26 academic year) to $119.88 for the new year.    I decided that I could not afford that price and would rather cancel the subscription for at least a few days in July to see if I could come up with that amount.   When I first attempted to cancel, FloSports counteroffered, offering to renew my subscription for next year at a 20% discount at $86.30 for next year payable on July 2 if I stayed on.  I have agreed to that counteroffer for the time being.   Hopefully on July 2, FloSports will honor their part of the bargain and allow me to keep FloCollege for the 2026-27 year at their offer to me of $86.30 for next year.

Yeah, the thing to remember is we're all overpaying for everything. Calling and threatening to cancel services frequently gets you savings

Good to know. I hope all subscribers attempt to cancel and get the same offer. I certainly will. I'm already on the cusp about renewing -- mainly because the value of the product just isn't there.

Even if the counteroffer is for 20% of the new increased price, which would make it $95.88 for next year, I may still take that counteroffer as well.   I am expecting FloSports to send me another email before July 2 to confirm the counteroffered 20% discount for next year for my case.   Their counteroffer that was offered to me was for a 20% discount, which they had interpreted as a 20% discount off of the price that I paid last year, but they may not have adjusted it yet on their end.

^^^ Did you try to cancel by email or on their website? I.e., how is all this transpiring? Are you exchanging emails with them or is it some sort of messaging exchange on the Flo website? Or something else?

I used the website, and the website indicated that it was successful, but when I have done cancellation requests on my monthly Boston Globe subscription to accept a counteroffer for a cheaper monthly rate per month, I usually get a follow up message from the Boston Globe by email confirming that my transaction was successful, since the Boston Globe automatically charges my credit card for the monthly subscription once I accept the counteroffer.  Since my annual payment for the 2026-27 academic year is due on July 2, I guess that the FloSports confirmation email indicating that I have successfully activated the 20% discount on the annual payment for next year has not yet been sent, since the payment is not due until then.  I will try again in a few weeks if I do not hear from FloSports, and at that time, I will follow up with emails.  In the meantime, when I try to use the "Manage subscription" link to check on the FloCollege website-- the subscription reads "Annual Subscription" with a renewal of July 2, and the price is not listed.  I will have to email FloSports to get copies of past and/or future receipts.

To be on the safe side, I have just sent a contact message to FloSports customer service asking to reconfirm my acceptance of their counteroffer, and I hopefully will hear back from them in a few days.

Update-- I got a quick response from Ian, a FloSports customer service representative, confirming that I have accepted their counteroffer to renew my subscription at 20% off the current $107.88/year annual rate, and that as a result in my case, my subscription will renew at $86.30 for next year on July 2, 2026.

If that price increases, I will expect to get a follow up email with the new price, but right now, it is $86.30 for next year in my specific case.
