Final in Rochester, NY--

Brandeis 2, Rochester 1.

Brandeis men's soccer first victory at Fauver Stadium since 2015.

Rochester's 11 game unbeaten streak comes to an end.

The win gets Brandeis to 10.5 adjusted wins, meaning that Brandeis will now be able to drop 1/2 of their win vs #290 in NPI Regis (MA) to further boost the NPI score for the Judges.   The win value game score for beating Regis (MA) was less than Brandeis's current NPI value, so Brandeis will be able to drop 1/2 of that win over Regis (MA) right now.

Next UAA men's game is this evening at 5:30 PM Central/6:30 PM Eastern, when U.Chicago hosts CWRU.

WUPHF

Brandeis and Emory move to 1-1-1 and 1-0-2 with four games left and remain in contention for the championship.

They would have been crazy longshots if the early scores had held.

The league looks very interesting if 0-1-1 Case Western Reserve and 0-0-2 Carnegie Mellon earn road wins over 1-0-1 Chicago and 2-0-0 Washington University.

Brandeis will jump Emory in this week's NPI. With Wesleyan losing, they will fall below both of them. Brandeis moves to #4, Emory #5. Top 4 seeds in NPI are protected against being in a region with any other top 4 seed, same for 5-8.

If Wash U beats CMU though...Wash U jumps both Brandeis and Emory and moves to 4.

CWRU at #19 UChicago right now.

Jonah White on the play by play.

I could barely hear him speak on the stream early on in this match, but perhaps the audio problems are clearing up.

Not yet, I can't hear him either.

They seem to have fixed the audio...but are now in lightning delay.

We have a weather delay at Chicago due to a thunderstorm passing through the U.Chicago campus.

Due to the lightning delay, play has now been suspended for at least 30 minutes.

At the start of the delay, the score is CWRU 0, U.Chicago 0 in the 29th minute.

The clock has been stopped at the 28:25 mark, and will resume from there when play resumes, either later this evening, or possibly tomorrow if play cannot resume this evening.

#190
I just woke up after a few hours of sleep to see if the match between CWRU and #19 UChicago resumed after the weather delay, and fortunately it did.

The first half was delayed at least 2 weather delays due to thunderstorms passing through the U.Chicago campus, but the match finally resumed after 8 PM Central/9 PM Eastern, and was able to be played to its conclusion this evening.

The final score tonight was #19 UChicago 1, CWRU 0.

UChicago's goal came early in the second half, in the 54th minute of the match, and was scored by William Stewart at the 53;34 mark, with the assist from Max Weene.

Game stats

UChicago outshot CWRU, 12-9, and led in shots on target, 6-3.

UChicago took 7 corner kicks to CWRU's one corner kick.

CWRU was whistled for 14 fouls, while UChicago was whistled for 12 fouls.

No player on either team was booked by the officials.

Each team was whistled for offsides just once.

Next UAA match

RV Carnegie Mellon at #4 WashU at 11 AM Central/Noon Eastern tomorrow (Sunday, October 19, 2025) to conclude the matches for this weekend.

Chicago outlasts Case 1-0 after 3 lightning delays and buckets and buckets of rain. The Maroons withstood waves of pressure and several late shots and pulled out the win. Evenly matched game throughout.

Big win for Chicago in UAA race. Tough last four for them (Emory, Rochester, Brandeis, Wash U), but they are getting close to sealing an at-large NCAA bid at minimum. FYI, Emory, Brandeis, and Wash U already have.

Let's look at Case's numbers a bit after this loss. To get to a level where they have a chance at an at-large bid, they need wins. Last four are Brandeis, NYU, Emory, and CMU. If they lose to NYU or CMU, they will need to win both Brandeis/Emory. I don't think winning at NYU & CMU plus two ties at Brandeis/Emory will be enough.

Lose to Brandeis next week and their only hope is to win out. Any two losses or even lose/tie with Brandeis/Emory and chances at NCAA will be really small.

UAA NCAA looks like - Wash U, Brandeis, Emory chasing protected seeds 1-4 and 5-8. Chicago looking like a 2 seed in a NCAA pod, CMU/Rochester on the bubble, Case needs wins, NYU is out. UAA likely gets 4-6 bids this year.

I'm thinking 4 will make it...Emory, WashU, Chicago and Brandeis. Unfortunately don't think Case is in unless they can finally score a goal or two. Don't know enough about CMU to judge them.

Case is a perfect example of a team with no margin for error...one defensive breakdown per game and they pick up a loss or tie. They've played WashU and Chicago tough, but had one breakdown in each game, and probably should have beaten Rochester.

They just can't find a way to put the ball in the net. I noticed last night their normal starter at striker came off the bench, and not until midway through the game. No idea on the reason- sick, injury, shaking things up? A senior got the first start of his career in that position last night- did fine but still not enough. Their freshman midfielder (Rossen) also didn't play- he's scored a couple for them but don't know the reason for that either.

Just a lot of struggles offensively.

Wash U goal in the 12th minute.

Wash U goal scored by Daniel Kochen at the 11:34 mark.    Golazo from 25 yards out.  Assist by Luca Violone.

Wash U leading over Carnegie Mellon, 1-0, in the 15th minute.
