Yep, PK and two set piece goals. Probably the toughest team they've played all season, but very workmanlike, just took care of business. The thing I like is that there is not much drop off when the subs come in.

The Allegheny game was interesting...a tale of two halves for sure. Completely dominant in first half, could easily have been 5-0.

The Allegheny goal was a crazy own goal- Case GK came out to clear a ball near the 35 yard line, smashed it into the attackers face and the ball ricocheted all the way back towards the goal. Case defender came in at last minute to clear the ball off the line but kicked it into the net instead. 3-1 at half.

Second half, Allegheny controlled throughout but couldn't score. Their GK made a couple of nice saves and their striker was a beast, narrowly missing a couple of shots. Case looked gassed even though they were subbing frequently. Just couldn't get it together in that second half, luckily it didn't hurt them.

Kenyon up next- will be their toughest game to date.

OK, you sort of piqued my interest, so I went to Kenyon's athletic website and looked up their men's soccer team. They seem to be doing well so far. So yeah, this may be our toughest test thus far.

I just discovered something that I hadn't realized. I was used to calling Kenyon's teams the "Lords" or "Ladies."

I had no idea that they were now the "Owls" until literally just today. Interesting!

I am assuming that you live somewhere in NE Ohio, right? Which D3 sports program is your favorite, and are you an alum of that particular school?

Kenyon changed it a few years back to the Owls.... much to the consternation of many alums. They are a Top 25 team and will be the first real challenge Case faces. If this is a serious year for Case, they will need to show it against the Lords.

I am pretty familiar with Kenyon as it was one of my son's favorites during the recruiting process. While visiting colleges two summers ago, he was offered by Kenyon, but they didn't have what he wanted to study so he ended up at Case.

I am not from Ohio, but we recently moved to the Columbus area so we could see him play. Fortunately, we've been able to go to every game so far, home and away. Unfortunately my son has been injured the entire time so hasn't played yet- this weekend was big for him because he really liked Coach Wall at Kenyon. Hopefully he's cleared to play and will get a chance this weekend. It'll be a tough game for sure.

So Rossen started against Wooster and Trosch didn't, so I guess I don't have to quit watching. Seems like Trosch would be rewarded with more minutes for bailing out the team the day before. I really don't know what Trosch has done to deserve so few minutes, but Case coach must be doing something right in winning 6 straight this year. I am glad to see the tinkering so early in the season rather than right before conference play. Maybe Case is learning from past years' mistakes. I am trying to stay positive and support my team with its recent national ranking!

Next up for the Spartans is their hated crosstown rival John Carroll. JCU is noteworthy to me only because I did my Army ROTC there while I was going to college at CWRU, and got my commission through that program. Led to my first career: 20+ years as an Army Officer.

Anyway, nice campus in a nice neighborhood, but as a CWRU grad, I must wish for JCU's defeat.

He's Mechanical Engineering. It was probably the major reason he chose Case over some others.

Regarding the game vs Kenyon- it was pretty evenly matched despite the score. CWRU scored off a corner, a long throw with a flick header that somehow found someone near the back post and a nice 1v1 drive/shot. Other than those three plays, the game was very even. Not a lot of shot attempts by either team, fast and physical play. Case's defense smothered Kenyon most of the game. Kenyon was good, could keep possession, but never really threatened until a couple sequences late in the game.

I know every team has ups and downs, but the UAA seems a little down this year based on some of the non-conference results. Could be an interesting conference season here in a couple of weeks.

Well, perfect. If he wants to study Engineering, then he's at the right school.

He'd be out of luck at Kenyon unless he did a 3/2 Engineering program at a different school, which would necessitate another year of college and a transfer.

I hope we DESTROY John Carroll. I did ROTC there, and CWRU's 20+ year football head coach is a graduate, but we need to claim Greater Cleveland area bragging rights.

One poll has us at #3 in the country, so I'd love to see us rise up to #1.
