It's a shame we don't get to see any of the top goal scorers in the NCAA tournament this season.

Sort of underlies the wide disparity among teams and leagues!

For me it is just evidence the best teams have players who are better at things that do not show up in the game stats.

Buffalo State's Diego Rivera was only held without a goal 4 times in his 18 games this season, an amazing scoring rate.  Two of those times were when the team played SUNY Oneonta.  One of the others was in a 4-0 victory over Alfred State where Rivera had 3 assists and the other was a loss against Grove City.  The Grove City loss and the second Oneonta loss were Buffalo State's only two losses of the season and the only two times all season that Rivera was held without a shot on goal.  It's no surprise that Grove City and Oneonta are playing in the NCAA tournament. It is also no exaggeration that the only possible way Oneonta found a way to win the SUNYAC was because they figured out how to neutralize Rivera and no other Buffalo State player could pick up the slack.  In two of the teams' ties - against New Paltz and Hobart - Rivera missed the games.

Rivera is just an incredible talent.  He has to be the Offensive MVP of DIII Men's Soccer.  Not surprisingly, he was SUNYAC player of the week 7 times this season and he probably deserved it the rest of the weeks too but the coaches wanted to spread it around a little.

In his three-year playing career at Buffalo State, he played 61 games, starting 60, and scored 60 goals and had 21 assists.  Pretty incredible.

I'm high on Soph. Nickolas Santana @ Western CT.  He had 19 this year while only averaging about 55 min/game. He scored 2 vs. Williams and absolutely caused them fits. Someone to watch the next two years.

he may get recruited by a D1 team, isn't that where the USMNT striker played before he went to D1 , think they were undefeated and did not get a bid that year?
